I just recently put an Evo 3 16G on my 1g and I am having a hard time getting it to spool up for a launch. I can hold the brakes down and rev up to around 2500 and that is all....most of the time. It feels like it is too weak to go up any higher. I still have the stock torque converter so I know that is one of my problems, but there are a few times I can rev it up to around 3K (when the car is running strong) and it will launch hard as hell and will not bog down on take off. I am currently running a JDM engine with a cyclone intake, 450 injectors, rewired stock fuel pump, and a M/T ECU, and 14psi. If I get the cyclone working correctly, will that help build boost better? I heard that the cyclone gives better torque at lower ends. Ever since I put the 16g on, the low end torque is ridiculously low, but the high end is WAY better than the 13g. Thanks for reading this and i hope you can help!

It just sounds like you can't reach the boost threshold, higher RPM torque converter would solve that. Make sure you don't have any exhaust leaks before the turbo because I would have thought 2500 would of been enough to start spooling a 16g under load.

Yeah, I think that is my problem. Got a nice crack in the top center of the manifold :( Any suggestions on what to do? If i can't repair it, are there any decent replacements that can accept an external waste gate? I have one laying around but I have no idea what kind it is. Bought it from a guy on here and it took 6 months to get it. It did not come with the dump tube either :( My budget is EXTREMELY limited so I can't go out and spend hundreds of dollars on a manifold right now. I will NOT buy one from the classifies either. I have been burn 3 times out of 4 on there.

12 psi on a 16g? hmmmm i didnt thin you could brake stall boost that high on these crs. i have the 14b on my 2g auto. i can do about 6-7 psi b4 my brakes cant hold the car or i start slipping forward. you will notice less "low end torque with the 16g than the stock t25. the t25 makes boost quicker than anything i know of. i noticed a verry large lag with my14b than with the t25. but it is faster at 12-14 on the 14b than the t25 morecfm at that boost level.
