Buying parts is one thing, having an engine assembled is another. On top of the parts inquiry, you have yet to give pricing on anything and my inbox still doesn't have a PM from you. You responded once and then never responded again. If you want to make a sale be prompt and efficient.

No offense, I just wouldn't trust your work against say Apex, Automotive Machine, JAM, JNZ, MAP, FFWD, SBR and the list goes on. Tried and true over young and new. You guys are just too new for my taste. I'm not about to get into all the other drama on www.xceedspeed.com with you and thegraveyard cause I'm more mature than that. I'm sure you do "good" work but then again it's yet to be put to the test. You got rid of your "600hp" DSM seconds after finishing the build...

Who said he got rid of it? He is still driving it now, you would know this if you looked at the thread he linked in.

I still have my 97 gsx I love it and will probably never let her go.

PM sent Danny sorry about the wait.

Last I checked he was getting rid of it literally right after he finished the project log. He had it up for sale IIRC? :hmm: No matter I don't care if he still has it or not it's his choice.

Allen you put your car up for sale.. HAHA I had no idea and I see him everyday. I dont understand the little bit of bickering but its all a money game. If I had serious coin and no knowledge I would go with the company with the fastest 4g in the world which is magnus. I don't understand why this is such a big deal. Building an engine really isn't hard if you have a clean work place, a torque spec sheet, a good machinist who did exactly what you wanted, plastigauge, feeler gauge, lots of lube(haha), parts cleaner, rags, and a torque wrench.

"lots of lube" LOL . I know I'll never need more than a simple speced block with a set of forged wiseco/eagles. What about you? Will you evern need more than what the rest of us that want a hair under 700whp reliably? Basic building and sound, proven materials; that's all that's needed.

Go to the 1/4 mile times .The guy on a first place, thats who i only would trust ;):thumb:

depending on which list you're looking at (who is actually the fastest), that guy doesn't build blocks, yet is milestones ahead;). Yes it is a testament to who did build the block.

Magnus is a good choice also ...me being Canadian and magnus has a reputation for very big power motor ...check Brent Rau race eclipse that motor is seeing 80-90 psi of boost and loving it ...but u have to have a big buget to use magnus ...but thats how it goes u want the best u have to pay ....:D

some people tend to say great things about slowboy yet i wouldnt take it there.... if i would id have to personally choose who to build it since alot of people have had problems with their engines built by slowboy.... not saying that they are a bad shop... just saying that id say 7 out of 10 will come out right... the other 3 would probably get crankwalk or the lack of PTW clearances.... just going with what ive read and heard..!!!

I have never had an engine come back because of crank walk. Crank walk is not an issue of how the engine is assembled, it is lack of oiling to the crank. Anything mechanical can fail at any time. My IN HOUSE machinist (yes, we are a full service machine shop. No outsourcing here.) is very meticulous making sure everything is within tolerance. He has 20+ years of machining under his belt. We build these every day and have thousands of satisfied customers.

I am not going to turn this into a big argument, its not my style. I just wanted to state some facts that may have been distorted.

Good luck with whomever you choose.

the reason why i say crankwalk is cause i have a 2 friends that sent their motor to slowboy and the reason it got crankwalk was because of the specs in the crank bearings.... as soon as he got it... we checked for crank play and voila there was a bit of it so he was like i dont want to waste my time and take it back... so we installed it and within the 500 mile range  it started acting... then we took the timing covers off and first thing we saw was the crank sensor shredded... and when we saw that we were like (we gotta check the crank play) next thing you know it had alot that when you pressed the clutch in it pop cause it had alot of travel.... SOOOOO they way i see it ... not every motor that is built is built within specs...!!! you could find a couple of threads here saying their story about their motor not lasting long and talking about when they got it back it was not built right...

also not trying to argue but just going with what ive seen and read....!!!

Magnus Motorsports is building my 2.3L Stroker as we speak :D

They might not be the cheapest around, but you get excellent piece of mind knowing the Pros are looking after your engine.

There has been excellent e-mail/phone communication along the way as well. They are basically doing all the mods in my profile all in one shot, so communication is key.

Why don't you just call them all and see who you feel good about?? I think this is kind of messed up thread. Kinda seems like it turned to vendor bashing...I'm sure they all do good work.

I am personally working on a project with Allen @ SIM! It will be sick! Will have more info on it later. I don't want to say too much about it yet. But let's just say he may be the only one to offer it once we're done.

Stay away from JAM, and before anyone asks I've had a motor built by them and I'm still sayin' STAY AWAY! My personal recommendation would be to have your motor built by Apex Auto Machine. Apex does most if not all of the machine work for AMS and Sound Performance, and if you don't know who those guys are you shouldn't be modding your car :)

My .02c

I agree. I had Jackson build my motor and I went to their shop. I live close to them. All they are is your basic rinky dink garage and I mean garage in the back of someones house. Its so bad it takes you 10 minutes to get up their driveway from the pot holes. Not that you need a huge buisness to build motors , but I was expecting more than a 1 car garage. They fed me a bunch of bull and gave me a used oil pump/front case that was already installed after I paid like $190 for it. . I asked about the specs and clearences on my motor and they told me they didnt have them and that they do them all the same. You would think you would get a spec sheet or something. Anyway..They put eagle rods in my block when it was supposed to get Manleys ect. The list goes on and on. My opinion is they are very over priced and dont do anything special to justify the cost. Same basic build as everyone else. They really rubbed me the wrong way with the front case and the rods. I havent installed the motor yet so only time will tell. Next build is Buschar or Curt Brown.

I still second the Curt Brown motor. I've never met anyone do dedicated to DSMs and so willing to help you figure out how to make yours better. I stopped by to pick up a big brake kit and got an entire lesson on tuning with a wideband, intake plenum theory, and rear brake modification for FREE.

I will say that he's probably not going to be the cheapest for the build, but I defy you to find someone who will care so much about the work he is doing and will easily be able to tell you every spec about how he builds YOUR motor.

Even though I am an owner of another business Curt Brown has personally put down some impressive power numbers. I heard he put down 811 whp tuning with dsmlink.

This is where my engine was built, and I have never heard bad things about this shop... Have you?

Just thought I would share some pictures of our in-house machine shop.
