Anyone have any thoughts on DSMgraveyard's engine setups and their work? They seem like they have some nice packages.

I just want them to be a dsm shop, like know about the cars and use torque plates etc.

i can help you out in your build, i mean not there but if you have any questions let me know. my first rebuild engine was when i was 15 and i had built 4 engines of my friends locally. all still working with more than 2k running 13 and the other almost 12. :thumb:

Why don't you look into having Curt Brown build your motor?
http://www.curtbrownracing.com/

He's super helpful and his motors are FLAWLESS.

Personally I've seen some of Slowboy's work and I was not impressed with the tolerances they used.

Slowboy did mine and i give them 10 thumbs up!! Really quality work and not expensive

Well I can tell you that SIM has there machining done by the same guy( A AWESOME machinist that alot of fast cars in our area have used and recommend) as TheDsmgraveyard. The only difference is we get the pistons before we send our blocks to be machined and match the PTW to what the customers goals are. We have a machine shop in house for the heads we just don't do the bottom end machining and any type of decking since we have a belt in our machine shop.. I actually feel honored to be mentioned on this forum since we aren't currently supporting vendors. We are hitting the ground running though. I hope to see your block at our shop LOL.

I'm building my own, but of all the choices listed, I would go with MAP easily. IF it HAD to be one you listed in your original poll, JAM would be a good bet.

Hahaha I would normally say I would build it myself too but technically SIM built mine since I am co owner of the business and I am one of the engine builders.

SIM would be the last place I would have my engine built. There are several shops that will build your engine...I'm sure there are several in your area that have tons of experience with 4g63s. Ask around man you will find someone.

The funny thing is that We here at SIM... are supporting vendors on xceedspeed.com and I believe I have an email from you for parts you are looking for.

this would be the email----Yo
What kind of deals do you get on fuel? Also, I need ECMLink V3, a good 6 bolt crank and your best price on an OEM gasket kit for a 6 bolt as well.

here is the SN ----- XceedSpeed

and here is the date you asked for the parts --- 06-27-2010, 05:00 PM

I dont know why you would get on here and say something like that when according to my sales I have none from you.. And Being a Co owner of SIM i know for a fact that all our personal cars and shop cars are very respectable. I did a big build log here on dsmtuners ---

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/new...e-co-workers-strictly-import-motorsports.html

and the other co owner John Whalen has done his 2.3l stroker build log.

I have nothing bad to say about the other shops you were considering on building your motor. but in the end it comes down to you. As you already know PM me with any questions that you may have I would be very happy to build you a nice motor and have yet another very happy customer. :thumb: Thanks Allen @ SIM

+ on that even if they do, they dont have it in stock. . LOL fail!

i would also try jackstransmissions.com they build some stout little engines from what i have seen and they seem a little less $$.

some people tend to say great things about slowboy yet i wouldnt take it there.... if i would id have to personally choose who to build it since alot of people have had problems with their engines built by slowboy.... not saying that they are a bad shop... just saying that id say 7 out of 10 will come out right... the other 3 would probably get crankwalk or the lack of PTW clearances.... just going with what ive read and heard..!!!

i would go to JAM if money was no problem ...but if u on a budget like i am and is not rich then Strictly Import Motorsports is the place to go ...ill be getting my head done there one i start my motor build next month ...the shop car sounds nice on a stage 5 Strictly Import Motorsports port and polish .... :D

I'm 17 now but I built my motor when I turned 16 ( got the car for my b-day) it takes some time but really its not that hard like alot of other people say go over everything a few times makes it alot easier in the end to make sure you did a good job. If you were to do it yourself

My 600HP DD build by me and the Co-Workers at Strictly Import Motorsports

and the other co owner John Whalen has done his 2.3l stroker build log.

I hear both good and bad about every shop, and it is just hard because I can't afford the engine I get built to not be perfect. People say that 2 of the workers there at SIM were from dsmgraveyard and a big fight started and all this and you guys opened SIM. Also how you are a bunch of kids not really experienced. What is your turn around time and what warranty do you give out?

Magnus Motorsports or TEM Performance (out here in Nor Cal). but I do build my own engines as well, except all the machine work would be done by TEM.

aite, peace.

yes i did used to work for the graveyard John never did tho. We are not a bunch of kids that are just doing it for fun. I went to school for 2 years to become a auto technician and worked at a place before the graveyard for 4 years then i had to quit because i moved over an hour away for military reasons. Then I started to work at the dsm graveyard only for about 2 months I did not like what was going on so i quit. Then opened a place of my own and Have been serving the import community ever since. I Work with John @ Delta Cams and John @ TRE. I do a lot of work with SBR Ask Matt. And I have quite a few other accounts like Ecmlink, Motovicity, Perfit, S2 race systems, and so on. Also if we were kids We would not own a shop with a almost full machine shop. and 7 bays and 6 lifts and working on buying an Awd mustang dyno :thumb: ... Our work is some of the best yes we are new we are busy we are very self efficient and have some of the best customer service out there. Our turn around time depends but it has been averaging around a week for our heads, parts are 2-3 days and our motors are around 2 weeks top. yes being small i can only say the shop has only built around 100 or so motors/heads but Me and the co owner John Whalen have been building motors for our selves and friends and our old place of work.. not the graveyard since we have been able to drive. Im not trying to bribe anyone I am just stating the facts.

Really.., myself and very good friend had a great experience with them.

Yup, really. Terrible after-sale customer service, non-competitive pricing, underwhelming performance, they don't/didn't provide a build sheet for the motor upon request, somewhat shady marketing "New forged crank!" when it's a plain old Hyundai 2.4l crank. etc. etc. I could go on.

Again, why all the fuss? Everyone knows AMS powered cars kick ass, Apex does their machine work, any questions?

Someone mentioned Magnus. And I concur. Give Marco a call.

Otherwise, send a known great shape shortblock to your local machinist and have them bore based on your specific pistons you've already purchased; and show the measurements. Spec the crank and have a known crank specialist mag it before polishing. After that get the rod big ends and little ends measured. Assemble with proper ring gapping.

Buying parts is one thing, having an engine assembled is another. On top of the parts inquiry, you have yet to give pricing on anything and my inbox still doesn't have a PM from you. You responded once and then never responded again. If you want to make a sale be prompt and efficient. :thumb:

No offense, I just wouldn't trust your work against say Apex, Automotive Machine, JAM, JNZ, MAP, FFWD, SBR and the list goes on. Tried and true over young and new. You guys are just too new for my taste. I'm not about to get into all the other drama on www.xceedspeed.com with you and thegraveyard cause I'm more mature than that. I'm sure you do "good" work but then again it's yet to be put to the test. You got rid of your "600hp" DSM seconds after finishing the build...
