Alright guys, well I just finished my 14B install in my 95 GSX. All is well besides some minor oil leaks on the return line and the SS feed line at the filter housing. There was also a VERY minor coolant leak from the front banjo bolt on the turbo. I tightened it a tad and I think i went away. Now the turbo is spooling really late because I think there may be a leak before the turbo.
Now on to the problems.

1. The turbo does not smoke at all besides at WOT sometimes it blows out whiteish grey smoke. I'm trying to think of where it could be burning coolant. It never did this before the turbo install.

2. There was some white smoke the past 2 days at the manifold. I'm thinking its the shitload of PB Blaster that I sprayed all over the car but I'm not sure.

3. There's a smell coming from my engine that I can smell if I pop my hood and it becomes more noticeable when I'm driving and really get on it. It smells like burning plastic sort of, with a mix of burning rubber. The lower heat shield is not on the car because it's a pain to get on and I haven't put it back on because I haven't had time. Nothing is touching anything hot so I 'm confused...The only possible thing is maybe I pout on a new 4 ply exhaust mani. gasket as well as antiseize on most of the bolts and the turbo-mani. bolts.

the best way to go is a full rebuild. Its very easy to do. If you dont want to do it i can do it for you. I can even have it balanced.

Ok i will do that for sure once i found out it is the turbo or not i can send it to you sence your in MO your not to far from me i can mail it to u. First i will send it to u and let you look at it and make sure u can repair it then i will get the kit

and how much would u charge to rebuild it?
 
If you want more options, I also rebuild turbochargers.

I stock tons of TD05H parts, giving you the option of only replacing the worn items, which saves you money on parts. If your turbo has absolutely zero in/out play, but the seals are leaking and there's a slight excess of up/down play, your turbo will require new seals and journal bearings. Replacing a thrust plate that has no wear would be throwing money away- possibly taking a step backward in terms of durability if you're replacing a perfect MHI thrust plate with one from an eBay rebuild kit.

i have a 96 gsx auto, stock boost. a couple seconds after WOT it blow a lil smoke then clears up. sometimes it's alot, sometimes it's not. doesnt smoke when starting, building boost or not building boost, only a few seconds after WOT. I found oil residue in my intake pipe, before the turbo. i think oil is coming into it from the valve cover. that hose that runs from it to the intake. can i put 2 small filters on there and just remove that hose, or is that where you have to install a catch can?:dsm:
 
that hose goes to a catch can, if you search for a catch can i'm sure you can find some routing pictures, there's been ton of those threads, i saw some recently also. you can put a fuel filter in that hose also that goes to the intake and valve cover, should help out some.
 
Don't bump your posts.

Check your turbo for shaft play. The symptoms you describe are very similar to what happens when the turbo bearings and seals fail. If you have any in/out shaft play, your turbo is shot. Any noticeable up and down/side to side shaft play is an indication that the seals may have failed. You should barely be able to feel any movement. A little is okay. Check your lower intercooler pipes for oil puddling there also.

now after re reading your post it makes sense and i'd say +3 on that turbo going out. just check for shaft play and other things just like they stated above me and you should find your problem, my stock t-25 started going out at about 150k miles and was still alive but had shaft play so i just swapped it out with a 14b that was in way better shape. good luck!
 
i have the fuel filter installed between the valve cover and intake. when i installed the mbc i had absolutely no shaft play and no smoke at all. the silicone hose broke between the mbc and turbo and it pushed 20 psi. took me awhile 2 find that. after i fixed it. it's doing the smoke thing, now i have a little in and out shaft play and a little oil in my lower intercooler hose. guess it's time to upgrade to the 16g. thanks everyone for your help.:dsm:
 
Alright so I am driving home and as I am accelerating all of a sudden I hear no more boost, white smoke comes out the tailpipe, the car loses like ALL power it can drive but SUPER slowly on acceleration... Then I come to a stop and all the light come on and my power steering won't work but the minute i let the clutch out and give it gas all the lights went off and it all worked fine. Also it had a bad smell and still had extremely low power when accelerating...

Any ideas what the hell just happened :confused:WTF
 
Check the turbo for shaft play, do a compression test, do a boost leak test.

Don't drive the car until you get it figured out.
 
Did you open the hood at all. It could be a lot of things. Check your fluids first. As stated above, could be a bad HG and thats why you lost power or a myriad of things could have gone wrong. But, always check your fluid levels.

Yeah i dont plan on driving it LOL now i have two non running dsm's in my driveway LOL anyways tomorrow i will check the turbo as the car is much to hot right now and i dont have the means of doing a boost leak test
 
that kind of sounds like what happened to my car but i kept driving it because well i really didnt care and it ended up throwing a rod cap through my oil pan. LOL

I did open the hood and nothing appeared wrong, oil level was fine, and radiator fluid was fine...
