Alright guys, well I just finished my 14B install in my 95 GSX. All is well besides some minor oil leaks on the return line and the SS feed line at the filter housing. There was also a VERY minor coolant leak from the front banjo bolt on the turbo. I tightened it a tad and I think i went away. Now the turbo is spooling really late because I think there may be a leak before the turbo.
Now on to the problems.

1. The turbo does not smoke at all besides at WOT sometimes it blows out whiteish grey smoke. I'm trying to think of where it could be burning coolant. It never did this before the turbo install.

2. There was some white smoke the past 2 days at the manifold. I'm thinking its the shitload of PB Blaster that I sprayed all over the car but I'm not sure.

3. There's a smell coming from my engine that I can smell if I pop my hood and it becomes more noticeable when I'm driving and really get on it. It smells like burning plastic sort of, with a mix of burning rubber. The lower heat shield is not on the car because it's a pain to get on and I haven't put it back on because I haven't had time. Nothing is touching anything hot so I 'm confused...The only possible thing is maybe I pout on a new 4 ply exhaust mani. gasket as well as antiseize on most of the bolts and the turbo-mani. bolts.

Any help? Thanks.

After making a good pull I get white smoke out of the exhaust after I let off the gas. The guy before me had a hose running from the valve cover to the intake side of the turbo. So I thought that might be what it was. So I plugged the hole on the intake and put a filter on the hose coming from the valve cover. It still does it. And how much white smoke comes out depends on how hard and long I boost. I'm thinking maybe shaft seal? I don't have a catch can either

I would put that hose back to the intake and either install a catch can between VC and turbo or an inline clear fuel filter. It'll help with crankcase pressure more than just a filter. As for the smoke its from your valve seals.

im having the same problem. mine smells pretty bad. and the smoke is real bad. couple people say its my head gasket? or my rings? i have no idea

hey Boostified did you ever figure out what the issue was it Valve seals or turbo?

replace PCV Valve, this made mine do the same thing....you can try and put some brake cleaner through it and let it dry thoroughly as well.

ok i have read and read an read and i cant find anything that is simliar to my situation..

- car cold start warms up fine no smoke run perfect just needs and iac so idle varies but after my car is warmed up and been driving around for a while when i stop and come to an idle my oil pressure gauge drops to really low but no oil light comes on and as soon as i start driving the gauge goes back to a little above the middle hash mark

- just yesterday my car started white smokin (not excessivley but enough for me to notice once again it goes away when i start driving this only happens at idle)

- its white smoke but does not smell like coolant smells like oil to me not to sure

my things is all my tools got stolen and now i have to pay a shop to fix this problem so im tryin to save my money on diagnosis if anyone has had similar situation please give me some input
i thought i had a fualty oil pressure gauge since my light never came on but if for some reason my oil light just doesnt work then i was thinkin that either the oil pump or sending unit is causing not enough oil to get to the valves and thats what only causing my white smoke since no smoke is visible when oil pressure is up and driving around or do you think is could be turbo or a blockage of oil somewhere PLEASE HELP tryin to save as much money as possible

not much to where someone would be like WTF if they were behind ive had blown head gaskets no symptoms of one with mine i thought it was condensation the first day becasue of the time of day and tempature but today and yester day was warm and its defiantly smoke jsut enough to have me asking quesitons and no loss of any coolant checked coolin system today and everything was fine no bubblin or overheating have occured

and she only smokes when my oil pressure gauge is reading low

And the cars runs strong really strong doesnt even smoke when im WOT

I had a friend ride behind me today and they said they didnt see any smoke the whole time but mine oil pressure was fine when they were behind me i got to my house and let it idle for like 5 minutes and then she started smokin a little bit checked my gauge and oil pressure was only like a 1/4 of the way up maybe a little less i know how faulty those gauges are so im guessing i should get an exact reading of my oil pressure

sound's normal to me, possibly a little turbo shaft play, worn valve seals. Your oil pressure seems to be normal too for a stock car (even though gauge is inaccurate)

thanks!!! i guess i was just paranoid about it, but i was leaning on the worn valve seals side becasue i took off my intake yesterday and absolutley no oil but i didnt even check the shaft play (stupid i know) but feel free to throw more input if anything comes to mind

Check for shaft play. That's all I can think of because if it was at start up I'd say that's not a big problem but after everything's warm and it's not because your low on coolant. My best guess is shaft play or worn out seals

thanks that what ill check first unfortunatly i dont have the tools anymore to be able to get to my seals so imm gonna have to pay to get them checked but better safe than sorry now im hopin its my turbo LOL

I have 2nd gen eclipse gst and it is not tuned yet and has aftermarket cams and when i start it up there is white smoke but its not thick like a blown head gasket or anything. i also am in the middle of winter and think that might be why it looks to be a little more milky than usual but when its been running for around 5-10 min is gets thinner. anyone have any ideas on what that might be or if it is a problem???

Its probably nothing, its cold out. You would notice a difference between "cold white smoke" and "something is wrong white smoke."
