White Paste In Oil

Hi guys, I wasn't able to find any threads on this. I have a completely rebuild engine with all new gaskets. It only has ran for no more than a half hour so far. I drain the oil a day before we had a massive snow storm with a temperature drop and i left it empty for a day. The car is in the Garage, with a turbo heater warming the place up once in a while. I thinking that this must be moisture in the oil pan? What do you think?

Yep, that looks like moisture to me. This is normal and can happen with weather changes. Since you say it is a new engine that has run no more than a half hour I would guess that it never got fully warmed up and had some condensation inside that you are seeing in your pan now. This has probably been made more prevalent with this cold blast of air we've all had to deal with recently. Put some fresh oil in it and forget about it. You may want to wait to start it until you're actually ready to drive it, so everything gets up to temperature and any condensation that's left gets burned off. Good luck!

^^^ Yup, condensation. I see it on my 5.4L triton in my expy when i take the oil cap off sometimes. Freaked me out at first, thought it was a HG! Nope, been running like that for 249k miles . You're ok with what i see in the pics. Thats not enough to be a coolant leak. Most anyone will see that after draining the oil and pulling the pan.

While you're in there ditch the oil pan gasket. Rev only for the oil pans on these cars.

Why only rtv? Better protection from moisture?

Yeah, those cork gaskets are especially bad for creating leaks. It's like the oil just seeps right through them.

WOW. So they finely came out with a pressurized can of gasket maker. I'm all in.

Depending on the assembly lube you used, you might also see some unusual coloration in the oil.

Hopefully, you did not use white lithium grease for any of the assembly lube since it will clog your oil system.

No, I used Moly engine assembly lube.
