White Smoke/Oil Leak/Vibrations/Oil over engine

Car: Manual 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS
Ok so here is the story
I was driving on the highway and my brake and oil lights were coming on and off ocassionally for the past week but I did not get it checked.
So as i was driving, all of a sudden, the car started shaking and lost the power. I pulled over on the shoulder and tried to start it up again, but the car was still shaking hard. I checked the fluid and the oil and coolant were empty. SO i went to store and bought those, filled them up and started it again. The car started, with the same shaking and thick smokes kept coming out from the exhaust. I let it sun idle for a minute or so to see it it gets better but it didnt. I hit the gas pedal (in neutral) but seems like it was doing barely nothing. I checked under the hood and there was a lot of oil all over the engine and everywhere. So i called a tow truck and noticed that under my car, there was a huge lump of oil and coolant mixed together, which i think it was.
I got it towed to my house because my mechanic does not do engine work anymore. Please advice.

Sounds like a blown head gasket. Hope you did not do any more damage.

Why in the world would you drive the car with the oil light flashing and not check the oil?
