Engine oil leak

I'm posting this mostly for that probationary member bs.
I just bought a 98 eclipse Gst. And from what I can tell my valve cover is leaking. However it looks like to much oil to just be a valve cover... Any ideas?

Start by replacing the VC gasket. If it is still leaking then there is another leak.

Is engine oil dye a good idea. I was thinking of putting In next oil change

That wouldn't be a bad idea if replacing the VC gasket does not solve the problem. It should be easy to tell if the VC is leaking. If it is start by replacing it and go from there.
