Which way to go on a new exhaust...

I wanted to see what is the best set up for a new exhaust system. Let me know what you guys think would be the best sounding. I want a real deep low throaty sound.
I was also thinking going all the way 3" straight pipe...

New set up or straight pipe?

Just get an off the shelf exhaust or go to a muffler shop and have them build you an exhaust. You can search on youtube for the different brands to hear them before buying. It depends on what kind of budget you have as well. Basically a pipe is a pipe, some just sound different. There isn't really a "best" exhaust out there, just comes down to personal preference.

Hmmm maybe you mean a cat back not a turbo back? A turbo-back would be bolted to the turbo so where would you add a "straight-pipe?" Also unless it is a new release megan racing does not make a 4 inch exhaust. They may make a 4in muffler but don't be fooled into thinking it is a true 4 inch exhaust. I do agree a thermal exhaust does sound awesome but that extra money spent on that over a different brand could be put towards the car in another area as well. It comes down to personal preference as I stated before. I know you can find any brand exhaust on an eclipse you can think of on youtube as I have looked before.

HSK with a Megan dp (full 3") sounds pretty dirty! I had a magnaflow muffler on there with the stock exhaust before and it sounded pretty nice aswell. Love Magnaflow! I'm actually considering ridding of the HSK muffler and putting my Magnaflow back on...
And unless you're planing on making a full blown track star, you don't need a 4". 3" is plenty sufficient for most setups.

There was a thread in here somewhere that stated why a 4" was too big, but I couldn't find it. I'll keep looking and post it later on.

I have a apexi N1 with the 3" DP and no dumb resonators or functional cats to ruin my awesome, and Im pretty pleased with it.

I also agree with 4" being too big for exhaust piping, jus take a look at what most people are running its mostly 3"

This is the exhaust system I run: Forced Performance Racing Exhaust Manifold,S.S.Tubular Recirculated O2 Housing,Borla 3inch Downpipe,OBX High-Flow 2 1/2inch S.S.Cat,SR-S 3inch S.S. Cat-Back Exhaust & it sound's good imo.

I have stock exhaust manifold on my GS-T with a custom 3" straight pipe nd Greddy Exhaust. Not sure if its a bad thing but that exhaust sounds like a Semi!
