OK, I just removed my TMO chip from my EPROM to install my new Jeff O chip. Does it matter which way the chip goes in the ECU? Like, does it matter which way the letters face? Here's a couple pics..... If it even matters, then please tell me which pic is correct. Thanks in advance. :dsm:

If you look on the ends of the chip, one side will have a little indent, or "dot." Match this up with the "dot" on the board.

Kind of hard to explain, but you'll know what I'm talking about once you look.

This was the "dot" I was talking about on the chip. If you can't figure out which way, pull the chip out and take a picture of the socket, and I'll tell you which way it goes.

Are all chips installed the same way, i.e. the notch facing the way it is in the top picture. Because I'm having problems with my car bucking and studdering whenever it hits boost and I just had a new chip put in. I'm starting to wonder if it's in backwards, or will the car not even start up period if it is?

I figured out it was a maf-related problem. Chip is fine and the car runs good again. I guess if it was put in wrong it would've killed the chip altogether.

What about if the socet was put in the wrong way and the chip was put in thte right way. Does that makke a difference?
No, the socket could care less electrically. The only difference is that the indexing mark would be on the wrong end of the socket.

Thanks steve, I got my ecuand Chip and new 2.3L motor in the car. And I have Fuel pressure but it's not starting. And it did before the new parts. And ecu.

Since your question ash nothing to do with the thread anymore, you go read the no start tech article and run throught the list. http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=217951

If you don't find the problem open a new thread with the results from following the procedures in that tech article.
