General EPROM ECU Swap into 90

I am getting Dsmlink for my 1990 GSX and I have an Eprom ecu from a 1992 DSM. I found some info, but I'm confused. I found info on vfaq stating to switch out two wires to the ecu and I also found info on dsmchip's website. Do I have to do both? Any input will help.

I would go by what dsmlink is telling you to do. If I were getting a keydiver chip then I would go by dsmchips.

Yes, if you want your tach to work right you need to do both.
You need to pop the two pins for the IPS and MAF reset signals and swap them because the the change in the harness between 90 and 91 and you need to swap in a 91+ PTM to feed the ECU with it's own Ignition Pulse signal and leave the stock signal from the coil pack feeding the tach. The later ECU's corrupt the signal the coil pack outputs and the tach starts miscounting the RPMs.
