which tensioner to use

I am building a new motor and was confused as to which tensioner to use. Does it even matter before 9/95 or after? The tensioner arms I have from 95 and 99 motors both appear to be the same.

Yes it is not the arm but the bolt holes on the auto tensioner it's self.

so are the front cases different? I have both tensioners laying around. Will bolting them both up let me know? will only one fit?

Ok sorry that's for 6 bolt to 7 bolt. My bad. The difference in the years is how the auto tensioner hits the arm. The early 2gs it is straight up, where as the later 2gs it is at a slight angle.
So they will both bolt up just need to see which angle you need to hit the arm properly.
