Well, I bought a sandblasting cabinet. I plan on mainly sandblasting valve covers, cylinder heads (outside), and just misc metal pieces. Whats a good choice for a media? I assume glass bead (am I right?), but I have no idea of the grit size that would be best for my application, I'd guess #6 or #8. Thanks for any help guys!

I would be weary about sand/bead blasting the valve covers. Their is so many little areas for sand to hide that you wont be able to get out. That can get into other bearings and such and cause nasty problems.

I know for ceramic coating you are supposed to use aluminum oxide because glass beading tends to close up the pores on the material and makes it harder for the coating to bond. As Defiant said, it all depends on what kind of finish you plan on using on the parts.
