Well, I am getting my friend to sandblast everything that I want. but will it stay clean? So far the intake manifold, CAS, oil pump, oil filter housing, block, thermostat housing, transmission, exhaust manifold have been sandblasted. I think everything looks very good, but how long will it look good? Has anyone else done this with lasting results.

it will all get greasy..... it always does, and if you don't paint your block it will rust.

After blasting prime and paint. Some of that stuff requires high hea paint of course. For anything aluminum...I polish it. Polished stuff is hard to keep shiny, but seems to repel other junk. tranny should look good for a while, im jealous, I have my trans out right now, I think Im gonna find someone to do it now!!

Sandblasting is great to clean up the parts, but it's definitely not intended to stay that way. With aluminum, it becomes bare and seems to absorb anything like grease, water, etc... and the only way to get it clean again would be to sandblast it once more. Any steel that is sandblasted should be painted immediately to prevent rust.

Sandblasting is essentially a way to clean your parts.

I have a sandblasting machine and have done all of my own work. I always powder-coated right afterwards for better results. I have always been happy. I would post some pics, but I am on my new computer with no pic files.

yea dishwasher, like a light duty hot tank. I've done it LOL, it was my old apartment so I didnt care. I cant remember what the coolant pipe is made of, but I would paint it anyway. Aluminum doesnt rust, but it DOES corode, so paint it anyway, or polish the crap outa it.
