I been trying to figure out what head i should go with my 6 bolt motor... should i go with 7 head or 6 head

Well what are you trying to do with it? Is i going to be an all out drag car with 800 horsepower, is it a daily driver. Also the heads don't really change between 6 and 7 bolt. It is a 1g 2g thing. The 1g 7 bolt head is the same as the 1g 6 bolt head. In a 2g the 2g head makes the most sense in most applications because you can retain the 2g water pipe and thermostat housing.

Just use whichever one needs no modification to work. Either will be perfectly fine for that power level.

7 bolt head with a engine build. The block is one thing, but the 7 bolt head seems to be the strong point of 7 bolt, when comparing the 2 engine strengths.

^^ Good reason LOL. Just because that may be the stronger suit of that particular motor doesn't necessarily make it better overall, and I'd almost argue that the increased static compression is more important for off throttle, around town driveability improvements although that works hand in hand with the head changes that increased velocity as well. Point is, try to make suggestions based off proven info not based on what "seems" in the future...

OP, as you will find in the research most all above are encouraging you to do, the 1g head with its larger ports has more area but less velocity leading to a higher overall potential but worse power delivery at average modification level. The 2g head has a more efficient intake port angle and smaller overall volume which keeps velocity up and is "better" for most of us. With those things in mind, you will have to get a matching intake manifold for whichever you choose and the throttle body as well unless you want to port out the 2g intake mani to use the bigger 1g TB which is a great mod for us 2g head guys. The other, and in my opinion bigger consideration is whether you want to pay for the 2g head stud holes to be reamed out to 12mm since they are only 11mm stock. You can squeeze them over a stock stud and sometimes even an ARP on a 6 bolt, but you will have very poor if any oil pressure to the head and cause all kinds of problems for yourself.

As suggested, do more reading and try to decide for yourself what you have available for parts and budget and maybe what would be the best fit in the long run. A 2g will perform better for what you said your goal is, but needs more modification to work. Good luck and happy boosting!
