The problem isn't the transfercase. It's the driveshaft yoke. Dont' bother. Get a new yoke and replace it. All the RTV fixes were before the recall yoke existed. Get new seals for the transfercase, new yoke and call it good.

^^^ This. :thumb:

Look at the driveshaft yoke. To make a yoke you broach the entire thing to form the splines and then it's capped off in the back with a plug. It's this plug that leaks. You'll have to clean it up and seal it up with rtv. Everybody has an opinion. I wouldn't seal it up on the inside, only the outside. If you can't afford a 30$ yoke kit a dsm may not be the car for you. The original yokes used a plug that was too soft and did not seal well. The revised yokes do not do this. Plus you get a new ujoint in the kit. It's cheap.

like I Stated before the car already has the recall kit. and just because i cant afford a new yoke at the moment even tho i just bought a transfer case doesnt mean a dsm isnt for me. Excuse me for not having extra cash laying around.

may i go ahead and sell my dsm since because i dont have extra flow.

sent pauleyman a PM expressing how i feel for having him say a DSM isnt the car for me! ROFL

And allow me to elborate.......

Your car had the recall done. That does NOT necessarily mean it got the kit. It probabaly didn't How do I know? I was involved with the NHTSA when the recall released. That's how. Look up the original recall notes and find out what it was about. Now I didn't suggest you sell your dsm. I just said it may not be for you as they are expensive to maintain, relatively. I made no personal slams but you sure did. I hadn't been on dsmtuners in years. I decided to log back in awhile back to help people. Check my stats and nearly all my posts are in the newbie section. I've been wrenching on mitsus for 25 years now.
I also told you what the root cause is and how to fix it. What do you do? You send me this.

id #### you up if u said that shit to me in person.

ive encountered so many problems with this car which i fix and because im not buying a new recall kit means i shouldnt own a dsm?

ROTT TO SHIT YOU ####Y!

and enjoy your miserable life!

Well...that was productive. Go reread my post and take out the inflection you assumed was in my post.
You're welcome for the fix I gave you also.

I'm not some punk kid, I'm a 42 year old family man trying to help out newer DSMers.

That's not the way to handle good advice.

He gave you his opinion and you spat in his face. Sounds more like you don't want to know how to properly fix it. Go ahead and Rtv it and then when it leaks again, come back and send this man a PM saying how sorry you are for being a little prick.

Dsm's aren't good cars for cheap fixes. Fix it right the first time and move on.

Wow, that was quite the over reaction! You should replace it. That piece has an awful lot of stress on it for an rtv application.
