Transmission/Transfer Case Leak

Alright, so I found some oily substance on the ground where my car was parked and a little trail leading out my driveway. I jack it up and look under there and see a lot of oil, or gear lube. So I don't drive the car at all and start reading up on it. From what I could see, it looked like the transfercase leaking, which is under recall. I had it towed to the dealer so i could get ir replaced/checked out. I'm in photo class right now and got a voicemail from my dad. I just went to the bathroom and checked my voicemail. The dealer said that it's a gasket between the transmission and engine. He also claimed it would be $1000 to fix. What do you guys think? Is it a likely culprit, and how much should it cost to get fixed? Thanks

alright, so pretty much my whole transmission is messed up. the speedometer thing is done, the gears are all stripped and there's holes in the transmission. hmmm, time for shep tranny, or just get a used one? (also got a act 2600 and fidanza flywheel) i'm thinking shep tranny, but 2200! let me know what you guys think.

Since your setup is basically stock I would spend the money to get the horse power up if that's what you are wanting. When you get around 400 hp then the Shep transmission could very well come into play. Or you can do it now and do the other mods later. It's strictly up to you. Good Luck

I woudl go for a regular tranny now and get some more mods into your car like Injectors, an AFC and other stuff. Then worry about the tranny when you have the power.
