i did search on ebay and didn't come up with anything.

I was trying to stay away from the dealership due to prices but it's looking like that's my only option left. Thanks for the info! I'll give it a shot

Thanx guys... i just bouhgt like 100 dollars worth of cleaning stuff and i accually wanna keep it clean and out the sun (damn black cars)

Mine came with one of the Evolution covers. Check eBay or your parts shop- you want breathable most of all, to keep from trapping water under it. If you want to get fussy about it, check the Porsche sites for what they recommend.

THen whats the differance... i mean on sites the covers are lik 200 bucks... on ebay they are 30... what the hell... it makes no sense... is it 170 bucks more for a name? or is the ebay one just like peices of paper... the ebay one says its breathable though... so but iduno :-( i'm confused...

I use car covers even when my C5 and GSX are parked in the garage. It makes the wax last longer, protects from dust and garage traffic and repels water if I decided to park outside.

I got Wolf brand Covers from Costco. $50 each and does the job well.

Wolf Covers

I have the Block It 300 fabric for both covers and Costco sells them everyday for $45+tax.

Title.

The car is sitting for a while, i want to wax it and cover it until i get my motor back in it.

Any ideas?

i got a cheap cover from autozone but im sure ebay has some good deals. note:be carefull with car covers during the summer. if mosture and heat builds up underneath it your paint will start to get messed up only put it on if u know a bad storm is comming or something like that

I am going off to college and I had my car painted about 7 months ago. I was wondering if it would be worth it to buy a car cover. It's a pearlescent paint so I didn't know if that type faded like a solid color. Also I live on a gravel road, I'm afraid dust might work its way up under the cover and scratch. What would you guys do.

deffinatly cover it. Shouldn't even be a question. When you spend the money on a new paint job, its nothing to spend another $100 or so to protect it.

I cover mine if it is being parked for any amount of time and I have never got scratches from the cover or dust getting under it.

I wouldn't put a cover on your car if you live on a gravel road. You could, but I would be afraid that when you go to remove the cover then it would scratch the paint. You might be okay though as long as the gravel and road dust isn't excessive. Personally, I probably would use a cover since a few surface scratches are relativley easy to buff out. I would rather buff then worry about my paint fading or bird decay all over it.

Check with the maker of the car cover that you are interested in first. Some covers are not recommended for vehicles that have been repainted. Not sure why, but this is the reason that I have never bought a cover for my DSM.

For some odd reason the website won't let me do a search for "car cover", and I don't know where to post something like this, so here it is:

I don't have a garage for my car and I'll be at school soon for the winter, so I was thinking about a car cover for my car. However, all the car covers I run across say stuff about "weather" and more specifically, rain, but none of them have any mention about snow or ice. Therefore, the question: are car covers safe for winter?

I also have no experience at all with car covers so any comments are welcome. Any suggestions of a good car cover also appreciated. Protecting the car comes first, price also important, but comes second.

The search chokes on "car". Weird thing, I don't know if it overloads it or what.

They will be if you can clean them off regularly. I don't think freezing one to the car would do anything any good.[/QUOTE]

I've read stuff about that, where if a car cover is frozen to the body you gotta use a hairdryer and just go at it until it's melted and dry. Since I'm only going home every 2 weeks and during that time home I need the car for work, I'm guessing that a car cover is not a good idea...

Anyone have any ideas on how to protect a car outdoors with or without a car cover?
