i know how it feels to get ripped off from those places. I would call your local salvage yards and just ask them for prices on an aftermarket OEM bumper. it'll be in the same shape and material, just not from the factory. I got my 95 talon front for 95 bux in cali.

I know this is crazy but a friend of mine just bought a 97 talon spoiler and front bumper from a chrysler dealer. He doesnt mind paying for brand new stuff. If you really cant find what youre looking for you could go this way

Im looking for a 2gb talon front bumper, the one with the big ass eagle logo on it, but I can not seem to find any. Does anyone know of a company that makes OEM style bumpers? Thanks

You and me both man.

You CAN buy them from the dealer (Chrysler dealers will special order them) but you're looking at over $300 for an unpainted bumper cover.

OMG thats a little more then I was looking to pay. If its gonna cost me $300 i think I'll just keep my 2ga eclipse bumper.

since they are expensive as shit new, and fairly rare... Your best bet is to look for a decent one on the trader, or you could also try the junkyard, maybe find a 2Gb Talon that was rear ended or something.

with the eurothane ones, if it cracks, that is not good, plus you can shatter them pretty easy. Stock ones are nice, but if your going for looks, go for the eurothane ones rather than the fiberglass ones. Just make sure you take it carefull when going in and out into parking lots, make sure you dont bottom out.. :thumb:

"Eurothane" a.k.a. Urethane is much more durable than a stock front bumper or fiberglass. The reason urethane is used is because of it's flexibility. It is also more expensive and harder to work with, especially when matching paints.

the stock bumper is not fiberglass, it's a plastic. Leagues ahead of a fiberglass bumper in quality/durability.

I'm pretty sure your thinking of fiberglass, urothane doesn't crack very easily or known to shatter. Definatly thinkin of fiber glass......

I didn't say that the stock bumper is fiberglass. Now that I think of it, I believe the stock 2gb is urethane but I'm not sure about the 2ga. I would assume they used the same material but I'm not sure.

I didn't really say you did

It's just that you placed the mitsubishi bumper next to fiberglass and compared them to urathane. I didn't want there to be any confusion.

I have a cheapy $90 2gb bumper that I got off ebay. It fits great and the body lines match up better then the stock 2ga bumper did. As far as flexability and durability well lets just say that I left it sit facing up on my garage floor for a few days and it started to flatten out but it quickly went back to normal shape when I laid it down normally. Id say that the plastic ebay bumpers are more durable then the stockers as a small rock left a nice golf ball size hole in my OEM bumper and this aftermarket one would likely survive that with no problems.

The OEM 2ga bumper is made of a harder plastic then the OEM 2gb bumper which is why they are more prone to cracking from rocks and curbs.

I once parked on a rock in the front yard, the front bumper was pushed up about 2+" no problems. my mom had a nasty habit of smacking the bumper againsty the stoppers all the time also.

I have never seen an aftermarket bumper, even urethane thatwould take that kind of abuse.

i got a 99 bumper on the front of my 96 and it has little mods for the front mount but my e-brake went out and i hit another car and it only has small stress cracks and that is it i also bottom out alot with my car being so low and no cracks definitely go with the stock 2g :thumb:

The 1995 Talon Body Repair Manual says the bumpers are "Grass fiber reinforced RIM urethane". I'd bet they meant "glass fiber", but I don't know what the RIM is an acronym of.
Just for ducks, the side mouldings and rear wing are "Poly phenylene ether".

RIM is "reaction injection molded," just a high pressure process for creating the urethane mold. The acronym is used for no other reason than to draw attention away from glaring spelling errors such as "grass fiber" unless by chance the bumpers really are reinforced by Astro Turf.

no that is b/c they can be used to smuggle dope. NO sir, the dog is going nuts b/c they are factory grass reinforced RIM urethane, I don't have any dope. :)

Im mainly talking about Ebay here, from hearing about great results from people buying Ebay 2gb bumpers, I wanted to get a a rear 2gb bumper primed and ready to paint as well. Anyone know any good sites to go to buy these? Ebay doesnt seem to have ANY. Thanks in advance. :dsm:
