is it normal to have pretty much no traction at the top or 1st and 2nd gears in a fwd.... im alomost stock... 2.5 in catback, and a 16g set to 10psi... in first by the time i hit 4k rpms the wheels just spin, and at about 5k in 2nd. what kinda power am i pushing out with this 16g, i got it with the car was already set to 10psi and i havent changed it...

Well what rpm are you launching at? Are you feathering the clutch or just dumping it and laying heavy on the gas. The car isnt AWD you cant just rev it to 5k, dump it and expect traction.

its very normal, theres ways to lessen it, but no way of gettin rid of it...better tires, dual stage boost controller, lsd

I'd say it's normal....

My wheels will spin on dry pavement in 1st right past 4K w/ my auto TSI. My DSM has only the basic power mods.....K&N cone, 1g BOV, full 3" cat back, wires & plugs, hard intake....and I'm still sportin' the T-25 and BCS/w restrictor removed (only for the winter)

But the cheapo GoodYear Eagle RH's tires probably have something to do with it...

even if i dont launch, the wheels still spin... oh... my tires suck? i thought they looked pretty good... LOL oh well...

um what would get me more traction? some really good racing tires like almost sticky(street though) or same tires with lsd?

ya tires are a must, i mean tires are good for handling as well. so make sure the tires are awesome, and if you got money for lsd, then helll of course get it...but untill then dont go WOT in 1st

maybe a dual stage boost controller, one that limits 1st gear to 10-11psi, then when you hit 2nd you can flick the switch to whatever psi you want. dejon tool dual stage (med-high) is what i have and it works pretty well, i still spin in 1st but not as bad, and 2nd just pulls after i hit the switch.

Just dump the clutch. but not like an awd.
find a low rpm that you can dump the cluth at and only get the tires to chirp.
1. bring the cluth just before the friction point.
2. rev to about 2500 maybe more maybe less depending on your suspension and tires. keep the revs steady, if you can keep it steady for 2secs your ready.
3. than just let go of the clutch.
4. if the right rev was used you will get little to no hop and tires will give a quick chirp (keep foot in the steady positon for the rpm you choose).
5. after quick chirp (wheel spin) in ends you can press the pedal further to the floor.
