My car is a 99 eclipse gsx cayenne red 5spd. Stock car. I really like this car alot. I have a bad electrical issue. I brought it to many different shops already, money wasted and no results. Anyway I took it straight to the dealer this time. They said I would have to change out the fuse box( all the wires are bad). Replace a new box and wires. TOTAL cost is $1300. Their not 100% if that will fixes all my electrical issues.

fix it or craigslist.

ITs up to you find another fusebox easy to install, takes some time lot of 2g part outs look at classifeds, 1300 no way, get another and get to work, or spend the stealer money. Imagine all you can buy with 1300 versus another fusebox.

maybe you could tell us your electrical issues, and maybe someone has had the same problem on here.It could save you some time and money, but if you trust dealerships that can rip you off than i agree with everybody else.

No don't fix it. Sell it to me, I could always use a back up twinsy for my GSX :D.

The stealership said the wire underneath the fuse box are all fried and twisted. I wish I was smart enough to figure that out. I tried asking MAP, but they dont do stuff like that. My issues are: no radio, p.window, headlight flicker, no rear defroster ( if I connect to the grid it will drain the crap out of my battery) and no inside lights.

Thanks for all you guys opinions. I wil take it into considerations.

You can fix this yourself easily, of course assuming the main issue is right at or very near the fuse box. It will however be time consuming and tedious, fixing big electrical problems always are. Hack a 2Gb turbo fuse box and about a foot or two of the wiring from under the dash of a wrecked part-out or from a junkyard, and you can straight up match the wire colors. If you have to, you could always grab an aftermarket fuse box from someone like painless, but keep in mind it will be significantly more costly and you'll have to find your own mounting solution.

Do you have a soldering iron?

Another good approach is taking down 1 thing at a time. If your windows don't work take a test light and see if the switch is getting power, if not follow the wire to it's next connecting point, and keep following the wire until you've reached the faulty point. From the sounds of it once you get to the problem area you will be able to see the other wires that are "fried" and simply cut the wire and put a new connector at the end and plug it in to make the proper connection that it needs. Taking down one problem at a time for a beginner is usually easiest, if you do the whole fusebox or main harness all at once then you may screw up more than what your problems already were, so 1 wire at a time is alot more time consuming, but in the end if you do make a bad connection then at least your car will still run and you don't have to track hundreds of wires all at once to find all your new problems. Hope this helps

Fix it. Dont be a punk. You knew what you were getting yourself into when you bought the car.

dealership is going for a catch all, they just want to swap all of it inside of finding the root cause. if your not confident in your multimeter abilities, bring your car to an electrical specialist shop. or find someone who is good with a multimeter and hook em up with some food and beer and some $$

a fuse box is nothing but a junction box...u dont need to replace all of it...overkill

LOL. good one!

If I grab a whole fuse box/wire all the back.Does it has to be specific to my model? Ex. gsx manual tranny. Somebody is parting out their car, but is gsx auto tranny.

Get the one specific for your car, then that way you will have no problems, take your time. Or make another decision its up to you, and your abilities.

They are call Primo Performance and they do lots of dsm. These guys are AWSOME. They fixed all my electrical issues and show me what was wrong. They went far and beyond. The charges was not bad at all. I can say that Im super happy. Now Im ready to buy some real parts. :)
