I have the option of trading my 97 TSI mods 16g, 3in exhaust, greddy BOV, safc tuner tomorrow For a 1g motor swapped 95 4 door elantra running the stock 14b turbo, heres a link to it on CL 95 Hyundai Elantra Turbo. My car currently has 153k miles and a blown head gasket. This car runs i kinda dont want to but i like the idea this car runs and i have rode in it its pretty fast not as fast as the Talon tho. And the Talon looks alot better also haha. looking for some oppions thx.

PS. the Elantra doesnt look as clean as it does in the CL pics to my dismay.. Its got a decent sized dent on the hood, The hood is also flat black not glossy at all as it looks. and has rot on the wheel wells

Sounds like life ... But from one dsm'r to another, How about you help the kid out. Obviously he doesn't know how to fix it or it would have been done. But you make a good point, I hate getting the crap end of the stick in a deal gone sour!.. Good luck to both guys in this deal.

Yes, we know 7 bolt DSMs have been known to crankwalk. Also we all know ANY car can crankwalk even though its rare. Crankwalk is rare to happen and yes even on 7 bolts, believe it or not. BTW if that talon is destined to crankwalk im sure it would've happened by now. Anyways, good luck to both you two guys, just giving him my opinion which was the whole reason for this thread.

Those are some cool swaps, don't get me wrong. But I'm not going to lie to the OP and say that Hyundai is equal to his Talon. It's not.

I seems you are very capable when it comes to the DSm platform, so you should know this ^ simply isn't true.

TSITrubocharged- I still say you should fix the problems with your Talon before ever considering a sale/trade. If you have any questions along the way just ask. Feel free to PM me as well, there is very little about these cars that I don't have first hand experience with and I'd be glad to help.

And Tom im really sorry i disapointed you man i admire what you do i think its pretty cool i was just confused at the time i didnt even think my Talon would start then when me and u took it for a ride i was torn between sellling it but still wanted to trade... then my uncle talked me out of it... And i always wanted a Talon but things are tight around me too that house u came to is getting foreclosed on and i was just gonna sell the Talon for a grand but i fell in love with it again i took the post off CL and had to apologize to a few others also i didnt mean to dick you around at all... to tell you the truth i wouldnt do it, i owned a 97 elantra the bodies rot out really fast hence mine is currently in a junkyard.

I second that.

I would pull the head off, look at the cylinder walls, pour some oil in each cylinder and see how long it takes to drain. If it takes a while to drain, I'd put a new head on it and enjoy it. My 99 is at 239k btw... I daily drive mine about 120 miles a day. It's all in how you take care of your car. If you beat on it and neglect it, it'll "wear out" faster.

There are two reasons your friend is so eager to trade cars.

1. Yours is twice the car his will ever hope to be.

2. He knows how easy repairing a headgasket can be.

Keep your Talon and fix the headgasket. You'll be much happier in the end.

Im just waiting on my taxes and shes gettin fixed cant wait for the Summer. Btw Flash who's T/A is that? T/A + DSM nice combination now thats a car i would consider trading for my Talon.

It's mine. Bought new in 02. Just rims, SLP intake, and a 150 shot for now. I've driven it I think three times in the last 2 and a half years. . APS twin turbo kit waiting to be installed but I'll build a 370 cast iron shortblock, Patriot Heads, built Trans, twin disk clutch, build the rear... Yeah, I like imports too... (V8 4th Gen F-Bodies were made in Canada)

keep the talon. a hyundai is still a hyundai, no matter ### engine you put in it. A talon is a DSM. and thats something to be proud of.....

Yes your girl called me and everything is cool. I got played too many times from other people that it felt like the past all over again! And yes your also correct, I have another deal lined up that just came up which is also Worcester area. Not big deal, I was just hot at the moment, good luck on the build though and when it's done let me know I'll show you some builds at my boy's house in Worcester.
