first off sorry about the spelling in this thread it was posted on another site so i just coppied and pasted it.

ok i am really confused now... i want a kick ass turbo for my dsm only problem is idk what turbo to choose out of these four, holset hx 35 ( i already have one but its not installed ), forced performance 68hta, or the Slow boy racing G60, and yea an ebay kit ( hear me out first LOL )

all have pros and cons but i want your opinions on everything LOL

hx35 pros:

i already have it
good power
decent spool time considering the size of it

cons:

need to buy a bep housing ( mind you it would still be the cheapest route )
need to dent water pipe so it will fit ( i have a spare )
need to buy a bunch of aftermarket crap to install it

fp 68hta pros:

best turbo out of the bunch imo
easy install
great response and spool time
not alot needed for the install other than a normal 16g install kit for a 2g

cons:

most expensive set up

sbr G60 pros:

im not really sure as i know little about sbr turbos LOL....

cons:

like i said i know nothing LOL

ebay pros:

other than the fact that its 600 shipped and comes with a 16g ( assuming its a small 16g) a tubular turbo manifold, fmic bolt on kit, turbo timer, knock off bov, fpr, oil catch can, slim fans and some other crap i cant remember LOL

i planned on getting this then killing its turbo and then having the rest of that crap for a decent price and just buying one of the above turbos when it blew

cons:

its ebay nuff said...

so what do you think i should do.... any and all feed back is wanted

I voted HX35

You already have it which is the biggest factor right there. The BEP housing isn't expensive and isn't needed if you are going to run a divided manifold. You said there is a lot you need to run it, but it's still the same stuff that you should/would be running on the other turbos.

You'll need the -12AN drain line which would be $50 at most for the whole setup and you would still be needing to check oil pressure at the turbo regardless of the turbo you get.

all the other turbos listed are factory bolt up style, so i can use factory water and oil lines.

the holset is the only turbo there that would need a different oil line and its not even water cooled if i remember correctly.

but i still fully agree with your other info. and i do not want to go out and buy a t3/4 flanged turbo manifold so that narrows it down to the bep housing but the only thing i do not like is the fact i have to dent my water pipe i dont wanna beak it ya know

can you guys show me charts on these turbos or even some personal experiences with them? i want to make the best choice cause i dont wanna have to buy another turbo any time soon, unless i go with option 4 of course LOL ;)

The whole bolt up is arguable IMO. Any turbo you want to check the oil pressure to be sure you are with in spec as each engines oil pressure will vary. Not to mention, those sized turbos you would want a larger oil drain regardless. However SOME people have gotten by with a -10AN drain on the Holset but factory states 19mm MIN but the -12AN is close enough to be used.

IMHO water cooling doesn't make any difference in turbos at all except keep it a little cooler and help prevent oil coking from hot shut offs. There is no need for cooling lines and/or turbo timers as all you need to do is let the turbo cool off on the last 5 mins of your drive. I'm considering removing the coolant lines on my E316G to make swapping that and my HX40 much easier for when I start AutoX sometime.

For the last part though,

BTW, the water pipe denting is minimal depending on your choice of manifold. The 2g and FP Race manifold for the BEP bolt on housing only requires maybe a 1/4 inch of denting and you will not break it. There are other manifolds that WILL clear the water pipe and a few that won't clear the block. Just do your homework and learn.

First, the saying, "you get what you pay for", is true 95% of the time. There is no reason to purchase a ebay kit. Alot of people purchase items from ebay, only to find out that the purpase a cheap product from ebay.

If you have a turbo, use it. You may find, that what you have is exactly what you are looking for. From what i understand, holset turbos' are very good turbos. I like Precision turbos'. Precisions warranty sucks. But, all in all they are good turbos..

is the car going to be a street car, a track car, or a road race car?

I would go with the FP68 and just sell your hx35 which should cover about half the price of the new turbo and you really need to do other things to your car before you look for a turbo

will that clear my water pipes though with the holset attached?
There are alot of companies out there that make a manifold that will clear the water pipe. look at DNP. they are not that expensive.

I agree. There are alot of things that you might want to check prior to going with a bigger turbo. Go on to Vfaq. There is so much info on there. It will point you in the right direction.

LOL i found that out the hard way about a year ago when i bought a 16g off ebay... lasted 24 hours. but like it says i just want the other stuff in the kit really. and how many people run fmic's off ebay on here along with ebay mani's.

i already have all supporting mods, and maintenance is done. i have -8 steel braded fuel line from the tank to the filter and -6an from the filter to rail, i have a aeromotive fpr, ordering my 1000cc injectors next check, i have dsm link v 2.5 which will be getting updated to 3 here soon as well. also have a 255 hp fp... am i missing any supporting mods? oh and i have all the gauges.

i guess i should change my mods in my profile LOL

so does any body know a manifold that will clear the water pipe ? i looked at dnp manis but i seen nothing about them clearing the water pipe

I don't know anyone using an ebay kit. Not even for the intercooler or the piping. I did my own piping, and my intercooler is from a local company. The theory behind modding a car is, " do it once". Sometimes that is not possible. But, you should save your money.

Have you done any internals? If not, get yourself a set of good rods and pistons.

all i was referring to were people using the intercooler kits, and i know there are people on her ( quite a few ) who use the cx racing core, and some even use their bolt up setup.

onto the internals, its all brand new oem stuff from mitsu, including a new crank from a local vendor. and has less than 5xxxkm on it. but i also have a set of manely i beam rods sitting in my shop but i think they are stroker rods. and if so i need them gone cause i sold my stroker crank.
