what turbo to run WITH FULL RACE MANIFOLD

Just receive my new full race t3 flanged manifold from full race, took almost 4 months to get it but finally arrived, im considering several choices but i think i will go with the new t3 based gtx30r i dont know which trim yet let me know what you will do in my place...

man i guess if you are going to spend that kind of money on the manifold, your choices of turbos are pretty much endless LOL
 
I was going to recommend an HX40 but seen as how you spent $1200+ on a rams horn manifold I would suggest getting a BW turbo or GT turbo with a Tial hotside seen as how your pockets are extremely deep.
 
why is the flange cut so that each runner is seprate?
The idea is that when the manifold is bolted to the head with the extreme heat it sees, the cuts will allow the manifold flange to expand and contract to the sides (closing the gap) instead of warping the flange.

Gives a place for thermal expansion to go. It's been a while since I read why exactly, but I think with a thick flange that doesn't have those you can shear the studs off.

Without knowing what you are trying to do, I would run a borg warner or a holset. I really like my friends HX35 in the holset 12cm housing. Just because you spent $1300 on a manifold doesn't mean the $300 holset isn't going to perform.

Most people that go with a BW really like them, but I'm not sure on the sizing.

If you're into MHI stuff you could get a T3 flanged 20g. Another friend of mine had one, it was a lot of fun.

I'm not asking for the info that I can find on their website- I was asking you, specifically, what sort of airflow numbers you are seeing with a 65-70 lb/min compressor wheel mated to a turbine that is smaller than a Mitsu TD06.

I'm willing to bet such a turbo is done making airflow at around 55 lb/min....far below what the compressor is rated at.


PTE is known for mating huge compressor wheels to small turbines resulting in a turbo that is horribly balanced in terms of airflow.

we re shooting for a top of 500 hp, with this kind of power it will be very dificult to put the power on the ground so we dont want a 650 hp 4g63 with fron wheel traction, we are looking for a responsive turbo that can produce great power i really dont have any experience with borg wargner turbos i have seen great things in therx7club forum with bw, but i dont know we are going to research a bit more cause we still have to wait for the built bottom end..

Holset Hx-40 in a stainless t3 BEP housing would get you to 400-650whp depending on other key things. I know my turbo recomendations cost is about 1/3 of what your manifold costs..But its an effecient turbo.

Besides that, find a Borg Warner Vendor and have them match you one to your goals.
