What the hell came oht of my valves

Ok so today i painted my valve cover blue and when i took it offf something stuck out where the vlves whhere. Before this i coulda swore i hD a valve tap tgen affter i took these out it seems to have went away im trying to upload picz from my phone so bare with me

Looks like a busted lifter. I would be worried about those missing metal chunks going through your engine.

Yes, that's a very badly busted lifter. If your running the engine without the lifter, you now have one less valve opening. The real question is, what did you do with the rocker?

Yes its my dauly driver. But idk anything about a rocker or even what this piece is. I just found it today..

Multiple people told you what it is. It's a hydraulic lash adjuster aka "lifter". It adjusts the slack between the cam and valves. It is supposed to have a rocker arm on top of it, like you can see on the other 15 if you take off the valve cover. Without the rocker and lifter, you now have one less valve opening.

Long story short, you need to replace it with a new one. You also need to find where the rocker went and put it back on when replacing the lifter.

Something pretty gnarly happened up there. Lifters dont just break and rockers dont just fall off. Did DSMGraveyard have their hands in that thing?

I know what the lifter is i just havent heard of a rocker but im gonna takd the cover off tomarrow again and look for the rocker.can i just buy a single lifter from somewhere or do i have to buy a whole set and replace them all?

You can more than likely buy a single one from a vendor or any other parts website. Also, could you please work on your spelling. It's hard to understand you sometimes.

By removing that lifter, you are going to have a pretty good oil pressure drop to the rest of the lifters on that side of the engine. I would also think the cam would suffer an oil pressure/supply drop. Only makes sense.

Thats exactly what i have to do ha. Il probly hold off until i get the new parts.

Wonder if the guide where the lifter rests in, didn't get shattered being aluminum-why the lifter got all busted up like that.

That would call for a new head if so.

OP, if its feasible, when you pop off the valve cover, take a picture and post it up on here before you put it back together. I would strongly suggest that because I suspect you may have some other damage in there.

sounds like its been this way for awhile, he said it was making noise until he took it out. Do these cars come with a magnetic oil pan plug? If so hopefully it grabbed the pieces before they got picked up in the oil pan.

I just took the cover off again.and well to me it looks like all the lifters /rockers are there. I looked at all 16 nothing seems to be missing or anything.... wierd
