Hi, I'm just curious at what kind of MPG (miles per gallon) or how many miles you are getting per full tank?

please list mods and type of driving

I'm currently getting around 210-230 miles per full tank, i fill my tank with exactly 11 gallons of 92 octane. thats what 20 bucks buy in hawaii.

right now i have just an intake, 2.5 dp and 3in full piping catback

car is just used for transportation, once in a while i would just sample it a few times.

im getting around 200 miles to a tank. . 96 auto AWD and thats not hard driving. . . on the highway its about 230-240miles to a tank. .

9-10mpg average econoshifting 90% of the time.

100% stock, but running rich as a bi*** mainly due to either a bad 02 sensor or injector. trying to solve the issue, but autozone gave me the wrong 02 sensor tonight.

I also have a Talon, and I couldn't get the right damn O2 sensor from anyone, even the Eagle dealership! So, someone suggested I get one for a Mitsubishi Eclipse, and it worked. In fact, I always order parts for the Eclipse instead of Talon because there are so many Talon parts that just aren't right. I also couldn't get the right clutch master cylinder when I ordered it for a Talon, but it was right when I ordered it for an Eclipse.

Ok, just filled up my tank the other day and found out I'm getting 16mpg. I shift at 4400-4500 rpms. I do mash the pedal sometimes, but not enough to make my mileage THAT bad. I changed my plugs (gapped right), plug wires, and got a K&N filter about 2 months ago. I'm not getting a check engine light for the o2 sensor so I highly doubt thats it. I don't know how often you are supposed to change the fuel filter though. The current one has 10k on it in about 1.5 years. Right now I have a good sized exhaust leak from putting a 2g exhaust manifold on. I broke two studs and never got them out because I need my car. Could an exhaust leak mess with my mileage? I cant think of anything else so the help is appreciated.

Shift sooner unless you're racing. RPM's eat fuel faster than throttle position...

Wow after reading some of your posts, I thought my gas mileage was a little low. I get a little over 300 miles per tank, and thats with all the mods listed in my profile; I'm also running a little rich and untuned [thanks to Dell, long story].
I don't really worry about conserving either, I sometimes shift between 6-7k and sometimes at 3500 [before its warmed up]. It's reasonable at the moment and hopefully I can bring it up some, I can remeber when a tank of 93 was under $20 and now its over $35 :( Whatever though, gotta live with it, I don't really care about the prices but it is getting rediculous.

Thanks Ill give that a try. But what about the fuel filter? How often are you supposed to change those? And, could an exhaust leak cause gas mileage problems? Thanks.

I've gotten 35mpg a few times in my 90 Laser (FWD turbo) with mostly highway driving. Mods include a TRE 10% taller 5th gear, EPROM chip I tuned myself, and stock size tires pumped up to 38 psi. I tend to drive slow now that gas is so expensive, but I'll still have fun with the go pedal once in a while.

27 highway
22 city

However I should note that I do drive like a grandma most of the time.. except on the highway where I drive ~85 fairly consistantly. :p

i was getting like 160 miles with 3/4 tank gone, then i cleaned my air filter which turned out to be extremely dirty, it was actually black. I used k&n cleaner and on my 1/4 tank i got about 90 miles.

I have a 95 GSX.

2.3L Stroker
1G CAS
1G BOV
K&N Air filter
Manual boost controller
DSMlink
T28 @ 12 PSI

It's a long story why my car was modden in this order before and fuel or exhaust mods but that is besides the point.

I am only getting about 150 miles to the gallon and that is just normal type of daily driving. Is this normal or what should I be looking for?

I've already repalced the fuel filter and that's as far as I've gotten. If you don't see a MOD listed aboce assume I do not have it.

man if you are getting 150 miles per gallon i wiold just leave it alone. I think you mean 150 miles per tank, which is no good. but if you are boosting the car up everywhere you go, and drive it hard than yeah you are going to get like 10 miles per gallon or worse. If this is just while cruising than there is something wrong, check for boost leaks, check the knock sensor, and check your cat to make sure it isn't clogged.

Yea I meant per tank.

Cat is not clogged, I jsut put a good one on to pass emissions.

Knock sensor should be fine. I have DSMlink and I get the typical phantom knock from lifters whent he car is still warming up and I can see it's not knocking at all at 12psi.

I've done a boost leak test and the system holds 20 PSI.

is that what you get around town or on the freeway. for example, my 93 awd with turboback exhaust, 190lph fuel pump, safc2, and at 17psi can go from 160 when the lights go on if i do mainly street and a little freeway all the way to 260 if i drive all freeway. this is to about 9 gallon when i usually fill up. for me, it's all on how i drive the car

By your estimation you're only getting 10 miles per gallon at best. Are you sure you're figuring miles per gallon correctly? So, you're filling up, zeroing out the tripometer and then driving 150 miles and then filling up? How many gallons is it taking to fill it back up? 15?

If you're figuring miles per gallon correctly, there is definately something wrong if that's the case. Is your o2 sensor working correctly?

I am filling all the way up and zeroing the tach.

I just put 2 new 02 sensors in the car less then 6 months ago and no check engine light comes on so I assume they are good and working?

Are you then dividing your miles driven by how ever many gallons it takes to fill up at your next fill up to get miles per gallon? What is your miles per gallon calculation (not miles per tank)?

I don't mean to ask dumb questions, but just checking.

I don't know what to say. I get 28mpg normally and have roughly 400crank hp (and a LOOONG gas wasting warmup cycle due to the JE pistons). If I go take it easy at the road course I still get 20! If I beat the car I still get 12mpg! I have no clue how one could get that horrible of gas mileage!

Yes. A full tnak only lasts roughly 150 miles.

the point is that you may not actually be running it down the whole way. get gas reset the tripometer and drive. next time you add gas divide the miles youve driven by the gallons of gas you just put in. dont trust the gas guage or the amount your tank "should" hold.

i 2nd checking the o2 sensor

Depends on how you drive.. If im going on a trip i make it about 250miles per half a tank.. havent gone much futher than that but im guessing i ###### get 400+ per tank, but on the other hand with an s-afc and 550's at 20 psi racing around i might only get about 8-10 mpg which would be about 150 per tank.

Check your spark plugs and see if your running rich. That should tell you right there. Might have to replace your fuel pump, etc.

I have 1000cc injectors and I get better than 10 MPG
