I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

I always wonder...why someone would put that much into a build/rebuild and then sell it 500 miles later. ??

Car looks clean though.

IF everything checks out and looks good, runs good, drives and pulls good, start at $3k. If there is anything wrong at all, id start much lower.

Hi guys,

I usually wouldn't post a thread about this but I am not a DSM guy AT ALL. I mainly deal with Nissans and Toyotas so everything is new to me.

I wish I wasn't having to type this thread, but alas here I am. A high school friend of mine passed away this summer and this was his project. He was actually a member on here. His sister contacted me and asked if I could help sell it. Well today I went and saw it and am afraid it isn't in great condition. I believe the engine is completely shot, and un saveable. I guessing a rod let go or something of the sorts. It has been in a front end collision, and replaced with aftermarket OEM panels. I do know its obviously the FWD turbo model. I also know it has a brand new auto transmission (can't find any paperwork for it, so almost a null point when trying to sell). Its been sitting for a few years so there is a rats nest in it (Wiring can now be a gamble).

My main question is this: Is it worth anything at all? Besides scrap? I'd rather not part it out because Im about an hour away from it and have very little time to work on my own race car.

Sorry to hear about your friend... I would look on craigslist and compare it to other DSM's in a similiar condition. I think you could definetely get more selling it as is than if you scrapped it. I think its just a matter of how patient you are, im sure someone would take it off your hands.

As I kind of figured, since it isnt in the best of shape. Im kind of thinking of making her an offer, maybe trying to get it to daily driveable condition.

And Im sorry to hear about that, 99. Its never nice to hear about this type of stuff. Ill be honest, it still hasnt hit me, I feel like I can still just call him and talk to him, or send him a FB messege, you know?

what do you guys think of this..1990 turbo eclipse.. from what i got out thats not in the add is craked valve cover (go figure) LOL.. and its got 200k+ on the odometer its fwd

As you know, the '90s dsm are a little different from the 91+. So if you can live with that the I would grab this, I mean he has proof of the rebuild, so for $1250 it pretty much what the rebuilt cost. Id go for it.

looking to pick a 1g up. going to look at it this weekend. Haven't bought a dsm in a long time just wondering what this one would typically go for?

here are the stats what do ya think its worth?

91 eagle talon TSI AWD 5 speed
119000
never modified all stock
head was replaced 20,000 miles ago. after t belt skipped
very clean, very straight, no rust, no clear coat fade.
solid engine and trany

I was figuring about 2000 to 2200.

Thanks

In my opinion it'd be worth more then $2200 if its in as good as shape as you say. but if you got it for what your thinking you'll be getting a steal of a deal. post some pic's if you can.

What do you think a fair price would be? 2800-3000 or more? just trying to see what a clean 1g dsm goes for now? I have tried comparing with other ones for sale in the classifieds here, dsm talk, and dsm source but all i really see are ones that have been beat on and heavily modded.

Thanks

DSM 1992 Talon TSI (AWD) 1,500 firm

It comes with everything listed and a turbo timer, a hks vpc, boost gauge, fuel pressure gauge, and egt gauge all installed. He also has about 2000$ in receipts from tuning and everything. I know exactly why its running bad so thats not any concern. Just needs a new head liners because it is moldy from a small leak in the sunroof. What do you guys think? I'm scheduled to go pick it up next weekend!
