I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

Alright I was just wondering.. I wasn't thinking of buying it cause it would need to much + it's automatic -.- ......

98 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX

What do you guys think about this one? I know its a little steep in price but if I could get it for like 7k is it a good buy? My only concerns are if something breaks I cant really afford to fix it cause all my money will go into buying it.

Also, winter is here so I will drive it for like a couple weeks then put it away for the winter. So i will be paying insurance for it to sit there. So you think I should just buy it and store it for the winter, or wait till winter is over and then look to buy one when everyone is selling theres for the summer...? All opinions welcome.

Meh.. I wouldn't waste that much $$$ on something already done. Half the fun of these cars is starting from nothing and ending up with a car like that, more gratifying knowing you did the work.

Thats true, and actually was what i am debating. After buying my stock subie and turning it into what i did I can look at it and be like "i did that."

Local guy has a 91 gsx with 118k for sale. Its clean in and out, stock engine but doesnt run. Hes asking $800. Thinking about trading my rashed up cbr600 for it. Im thinking its worth it. What do you guys think?

I would say maybe like 750 since the engune doesn't run. I saw some fuy selling a talon tsi fwd with 180k miles and not running engine and he wanted 900. And yours has lower mileage then mine , I would say take it ! :hellyeah:

Well do you have any idea as to what's wrong with it? Depending on the problem it could just take up some garage space for a while unless its an easy fix! I took a chance with my TSI. I wanted a completely stock one and I basically found one for $1800 but the owner said he tried to do a timing belt job but couldn't tighten the belt! Turns out he just didn't have the tensioning tool and I put a new belt on and it runs great now! Moral of the sort you can come across a good deal that one little tweak could give you a sweet car. Good luck!

Haha well i just did get finished rebuilding the engine in my gst, and its too powerful LOL. Im tired of smoking tires so im thinking ill drop it back closer to stock and keep its dd status, and build the gsx for a fun weekend car utilizing my turbo setup. Plus the bike is old and beat up, but mechanically sound. The 91 cars had popup headlights correct? Any chance its eprom?

And no @TDC, no idea, but as low as the mileage is and as good shape as its in, im betting its probly something simple. You know how quirky these cars are LOL

Lol then your set!! I'd say go for it!! 91's do have to popup lights I know that all 90's came with EPROMs. I'd say there a good chance yours already has an EPROM! Keep us posted on what happens! We love pictures! :)

I wouldn't pay more than $500. But then again it seems people give away DSMs where I live...

Not here. Ive been watching since last year. If its just a gsx chassis on blocks they want a thousand for it(literally describing an add i saw today). In fact, ive not even seen a gst shell here for less than $600. If you find one running they want at least 4k usually. Miraculously i picked mine up unmolested for $2200 needing tires.

Ok guys I posted this earlier!

I want a little more feedback!

1996 mitsubishi eclipse GST 6

I talked to the guy and hes gonna sell it to me for $450 and my friend has a 4G63T engine that he will sell me!

Please tell me what I should look for when I go see the car!

Tower rust, engine area cuts / weldings , wires cut... etc... Let me know guys thanks!

92 TALON TSI/ECLIPSE GSX TURBO

I'm thinking about going and looking at it this weekend. The $4k price tag is negotiable. I talked with the owner and got a bit more info from him:

Body has 146,000
6 bolt engine engine has about 500 miles after rebuild
New Mitsubishi timing components including the bracket that bolts to engine
Power Enterprise blue kevlar timing belt
New Pistonstop Line OEM Rings, Bearings, oil pump gears, gaskets
2G Head Ported and polished with new stainless steel exhaust valves
EVO 8 springs and retainers
EVO 8 intake cam & EVO 9 exhaust cam
New Centerforce Dual Friction clutch set
High flow fuel pump
18G Mitsu turbo ported polished and clipped 10 degrees
2G exhaust manifold ported
Stainless steel 02 housing and downpipe
Tuned with an HPS VPC

What do you guys think would be a decent price for it?

maybe for $3000-3200ish.

$4000 is to much, that's near what I payed for my absolute mint fully restored 92 tsi awd with more mods/less miles/fresh rebuild - and with all receipts/records
