I found a 1996 Spyder GST for $4900. It is a 5-speed, 91,000 miles on it, white with black top, 17 inch rims. There is 80% tread left on the tires but the guy has a brand new never used set of tires for the car that is included in the price. He says the top doesn't leak, but it had a rip and was repaired, but he didn't like it, so he bought a brand new oem top that isn't installed and is included with the car. He says the interior is really nice, everything inside works, but you have to help the top up a little bit. He doesn't know if the timing belt has been replaced or not. It has a 3 inch cat back exhaust, 16G turbo, apexi intake and a greddy bov. He says it runs great and has no issues. He says he just wants to get rid of it because he doesn't drive it and its taking up space in his garage, which sounds good to me because he kept it garaged at least. he also said that the paint is good on it, no clear coat coming off, no body damage or dents. I'm going to check for crankwalk be looking at the clutch pedal when I turn left. I have been talking to the guy over the phone and I'm suppose to go drive for 4 hours to go and buy it if it checks out on Thursday. Does it sound good? Should I ask him or check for other things on it?

Dude obvious scam. Anytime it has something to do with "shipping" it is almost always a scam. People try to sell fake supras for like 3k on craigslist all the time and the ads are deleted within a day. (that's why it was deleted) I have personally tried to buy some of these sketchy ads, and they are all B.S. Go locally, I know the deal looks nice, but when it looks to good to be true, it usually is.

I actually E-mailed the scammer after having seen this car almost four times when I was searching for my first DSM. Same to similar story. "I've put this nation wide bla bla bla." or "im medic in army bla bla bla". My favorite was when the scammer claimed to be a doctor and couldn't even spell doctor right...

I got the exact same one when I inquired about a 99 gsx in Wisconsin. I knew it was a scam right away because the ad had REALLY bad grammar.

Scam, I see it all to often on my local CL. I post to multiple citys at once and it happens more than you think.

Im looking at buying a 94 eagle talon tsi awd. This is what the ad says.

1994 eagle talon tsi awd with a bunch of parts! the good the car is from texas still have texas sticker on it. NO RUST! has the short throw shifter. Maf-T Translator. 20G Turbo, had it on 22 pounds of boost but was too much so it is now set to 19 pounds. has a Turbo XS blow off valve. Boost controller. BIG front mount intercooler system. by far the biggest ive seen. big 5" tach with shift light. 18" motegi rims black with a chrome lip. AEM wideband. Boost gauge. Apexi turbo timer. the tranny shifts great thru all gears with no grind. just put a clutch in and tranny less than a month ago. dont have reciets. but have pics of the whole build. has the open dump. 3' magnaflow exhaust. Brian Crower 280 cams! yes shes loud. Racing Radiator. has the 4 bolt rear end swap with the LSD! has exentec blue HID's! just did a oil change and plugs and wires. im sure there is more im forgettin. from what i was told buy the guys that built this car it has 400HP. drilled and slotted rotors. the car could use a DSM link with that it should have close to 500hp. now for the bad. the car has NO power steering. i went to replace the belt and somehow the bolt that holds the power steering holder up broke off in the block. so you have to tap it out.

The guy is asking 2000 for the car is it worth that? I attached some pics of the car.

Honestly I think its a steal the only problem maybe the.bolts that are still in the block but even if you wanted to start fresh and mod your own way there's a whole bunch you could use or sell to get a little bit of extra

IT seems like a pretty good deal. If it has a clean title and a good running engine. What type or engine management and injectors does the car have.

Go over that car very thoroughly. He already said its no got engine management with having a MAFT and needing link. Never mentioned anything about AFPR or injectors either. Which means I would believe he is running on stock parts and overran the fuel system at 22psi. So backed it down till he didnt hit fuel cut. Check it over well, and do a compression test on it. Just to make sure everything works as it should and there is not internal damage. I would do a leakdown test too if you have the tools to do it too. To verify your rings are good. He claims someone rebuilt or built the motor but has no receipts. I would go over the car very carefully and if its good, that is one hell of a deal.

+ 1.. truthfully sounds too good to be true. But leakdown an ompression test it if you can. If those come back good then d sit him an offer

If you're really interested, check it out really good. I personally stay away from ads with so much misspelling, especially when the car has all those upgrades. The price he's asking makes me wonder that there is something else he's not telling us.

If you don't have much experience with these cars, I would say buying a car with mods like that could get you into trouble quick. Especially if the car was poorly modded/maintained.

I was looking for a GSX while I was down in AZ and found one in Glendale great price $4700 totally stock 30K miles. Looked like the pictures were taken right from a dealers brochure. Had all the grimy keywords such as military, shipping, wire transfer, and immaculate. It really does suck to find those deals and figure out it's a scam.

I absolutely wanted a GSX so I looked within 500 miles and guess what? Found same exact GSX ad again with a little different details. I eventually found a legit one though in El Paso, Texas. Drove there in a tiny red HHR with my dad and picked it up. The seller was a great dude and I'm still in contact with him.

I would never consider a car unless I could meet the seller and get to know them and the history of the car...

he didnt ask for your paypal account etc..LOL those are the usual scams i get...ill ask 75$ for something, ill get an email saying they will pay 150$ for it, all i gotta do is hand over my info..LOL...i cant believe people still even consider this kind of crap.

Scam artist you can tell by his language. Sounds like a foreigner by his poor English skills...another dead give away. You pay the money for a something that you cannot touch, feel or drive-off...no paper trail attached..plus he only wants someone with the money to "only" reply so another dead giveaway it is a scam.....Just learn to spot those 3 things and no matter what e-mail you get you can immediately just "delete" it.....They never change their tricks they just steal each others ideas and plagiarizer them as they go along......he should have his hands cut-off that's the only way you can stop those kinds of ####tards from doing that kind of immoral behavior......

I bought my 98 GST for 1200$ with a lot of aftermarket goodies on it. The only reason i got it for that price and felt comfortable buying it, was 1: it was my friends old car. 2: I knew its entire history, and 3: he thought he had blown the motor for the second time, when actually after i took it apart, he blew a valve out (lucky me). My point being even when u know whats wrong, u dont always know whats wrong, id go over that thing with a fine tooth comb making sure u cover all the bases because there has to be something wrong with it, or he wouldnt be eager to sell something like that. Good Luck man.

I kinda thought it sounded to good to be true. I dont know much about dsm cars I've been driving camaros for the past 5 years. I'm interested in buying one though. There's also a 1995 Eagle Talon ESI for sale by me for 700. Also needs a power steering pump and a couple minor things like tires etc. Can the 2.0s be modded very much or should I just aim for a TSI?

I would comb it over but all in all, it seems a good buy. Even if the motor is tanked you could part it out and make your 2k back I'm sure.

Definately aim for the Tsi. the car is worth the cash in parts so you cant lose your ass on it. Just buy it and the longer it runs and you can drive it the better for you. when it blows up part it out make you money and go buy another one.:hellyeah:

Does seem too good to be true. As long as the title is clean and compression is decent it is well worth it. If he daily drives the car and you successfully drive it home, I'd say it's a steal.
