Just think if it sits in the sun all day, chrome = bunrs

I can speak on that from experiance, yes they do get VERY hot at times, but I have only once not been able to tuch it.

I have a redline ball type knob that has slits cut in it for more grip, I love it, but though pesky slits get dirty at times.

You should definitely consider the sun's heat when thinking of metal knobs. I sometimes cover mine with a cloth or something if I have anything handy. I've been burned so that my hand hurts for a while after driving before.

you're going to probably want to ask them what the hoole diameter is. Then, you can unscrew your factory knob and measure the diameter to be sure.

Hello, I was browsing a site and found this shift nob that I liked: http://www.2kracing.com/product_info.php/products_id/4089 I was wondering if it works with my 99 Eclipse GS-T? Just making sure before I purchase.

-Thanks Mike

My buddy has that same knob, although he drives an Integra GSR. He got it from a different site, they called it "JDM Integra Type-R Shift Knob". Dont know if that really is the Integra Type-R shift knob but that was our expierience. :thumb:

Hey all,

What shift knob do you use and which one do you recommend? I have a stock one, but I believe it is a n/t one because it is HUGE. I got it from the junkyard to replace the blue lighted one that came with the car. Thanks

Will :talon:

No, that huge dildo of a shifter is the stock one. It was on mine when i first got it. I recomend getting the MachV oem replacement one. Its stiched leather and looks like it should have came factory. Also is very heavy and low profile. Seriously, its the best one if ur not a ricer.

That's a 2G shifter. Later 1G also went to a normal knob, a bit taller than the 2G. The Evo knob is a bit smaller yet, and more round.

The shape of most modern shift knobs are derived from Mercedes, whose studies in the late 60's found that three people had been killed one year by having the shifter knob pass through their eye socket and into their brain. Mercedes designed the rounded-off, offset cube that will not fit through an eye socket.

I have this one. It'll probably fit through my eye socket though..

I've found that the heavier shift knobs offer a much better shift feel.

I've been alternating between the heavy OEM machV shift knob, and the Evolution VIII knob, and theres a huge difference. The evolution knob is 10x lighter, and shifting feels much more notchy, and not as fluid, due to less weight on the throw. the 2g heavy knob is so weighty, that it just goes in like butter. I reccomend this knob, or the GReddy counterweight.

i looked for a shift knob on ebay. i always wanted a pure round knob. i finally found a place that makes the bullitt style knobs for mustangs, and they had one that was made out of carbon fiber. it was like 35 bucks i think. its black cf and has a chrome end cap and looks and feels great on the hand. it also matches the interior well. and here i was gonna get an actual mustang bullitt style knob.

hah, yeah, no wonder Mercedes was the one that invented it... If you drive a Mercedes, there has to be something wrong with you if you _don't_ get road head at least once a week.

hahaha wow! yeah i didn't catch that until defiant clarified it either, anyways i was considering the heavy oem one from machv too, my tranny is pretty notchy as it is, TheTSiGuy do you think it'll help with my notchy throw? or was your throw pretty decent before you went to the lighter evo style? i'm not looking for a miricale here i know i need to get it rebuilt with some double syncros but i'm so sick of pulling tranies in this thing  g*d d&mn wrong wheel drive! :thumb:

Road head is good, but not so fun when entering a hard corner at twice the posted speed limit...

"Yeah, baby that's great, but sit up, I need to downshift now."

I have a Momo Cobra. I like it.
