How much different are they? I know that the big 16g has a bigger compressor wheel, but doesn't the small 16g have better spool up, or does it just depend on what brand you get.
HELP ME!:dsm:

Truthfully, you won't see a big difference between the two as far as spool up goes. Unless you realy watch the tach, its not going to make a bid difference. The top end you will feel a bit more, but still fairly minimal.

I am not sure what you mean by referencing which brand you get - both are made by MHI. If you are speaking of the EVO 16G GT, then that is a different brand, but it's not what you stated above. :p

Both of those turbos spool faster than many of the "larger" turbos, but the small 16g will spool faster than the 16G (aka closer to that of the spool of the 14b).

What are your intentions for your car? The choice you end up making will be a trade off between spool up vs max HP up top.

I think he's just refering to either the small or big 16G.

I have an EVO III 16G in my car & I have to say, it was one of the best mods I've done(I did however get all the supporting mods done FIRST). I didn't notice any drivability diferences at all.

Both are ver similar... they are both 16g's after all. ;) The small 16g will spool quicker, while the big 16g will have a little more pull at the top.

I have a small 16g and I love it. This turbo is so underrated with its fast spool and how much hp it can hold. it is good for at least 300hp. I am trying to max out this turbo and i want to see how well i do at the track in june.

Real

EVO3 16G best turbo you can bolt on out there! Get the EVO3 it flows as much as a 18G!

any ideas to how much lbs of boost a gt evo3 big 16g opposed to the smaller 16's? or is there virtually no difference?

Just so you know, an EVO3 GT is NOT the same tubo as an Mitsubishi (MHI) EVO3. It is a copycat turbo.

Long story short: Buy a Genuine Mitsubishi EVO 3 Big 16G turbo. It is the best you will get for the price. It has fast spool and can support up to 380 HP.

If you want specs on airflow, that can be found with a simple SEARCH (Upper right hand portion of the web site).

by a 16g and put a 20g compressor wheel in it and you will have a kick ass turbo i am doing that for my f22 prelude.
