small/big 16g question

[98turbo]

Hey, I have a turbo and I'm trying to figure out if it's the big or small 16g. The exhaust housing is ported so I can't tell that way. What other way is there?

Patience grasshopper, it's late sunday night, and there's not a lot of people posting... as far as your question goes, I have no idea, but maybe if you posted some pics of the housing, the casting numbers, and mesurements of the different ports, you would get a better answer... just a thought.

the turbine housings are the same between the big and small. the only difference is in the compressor wheel if I recall.

I believe the wheel on the Big 16G is bigger.

Obviously if you take the comp housing off and measure the wheel you can tell what turbo you have. The other way is they have a different number stamped on the comp housing, but I can't remember which one is which.

Bumping threads is not allowed on DSMTuners.com and if you take a picture it would be much easier to help you know what turbo you have.

s16g has a very very small turbo inlet. b16g and evo3 16g are much bigger... take a look at the "turbo pictures" thread in the hangout and look to compare.

you can tell by the codes on the inlet housing.. s16g 052, b16g 042, evo16g 043 i belive. i cant rear my own writing on the evo number ...

i was close! just put the 0 in the wrong spot. and now that i look at what i wrote on a peice of paper it was a 47 not a 43 thanks for clarifying!
