I need a little advice. I just came across an 89 Conquest fmic for 50 bucks. So I figure it is time to upgrade the turbo (after all I finally figured out my shifting issue---stupid cables). Anyway, I am not sure which turbo to get. My budget puts me at either a small 16g or a big 16G or pay $500 or $600...I've read that the big 16G puts out about 45 more cfm than the smaller unit. Is this really worth the extra 100 bucks? My main goal is getting into the 12's. I dont care if it is a 12.00 or a 12.99...I want to boost to about 15-16 on the street and 18-20 at the track with high octane fuel. Which would you guys recommend? I am installing a 255 walbro with the re-wire kit this weekend. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks. I know the evo turbo is a bad ass but I am not sure it is a direct bolt on. Will I not need an evo or aftermarked manifold for this turbo? What about the O3 housing...? My budget limits me to one of the smaller units. If it turns out this evo turbo is a direct bolt on...I just found my turbo....thanks again.

Well I just called Buschur racing and asked and the guy told me the EVO BiG 16G turbo will just bolt up....although he was not sure at first. Can someone else please back this up?? I need to know for sure if this turbo will just bolt up to my existing stock manifold and everything else...if so I am getting this bad boy this week. Thanks

It should bold right up to the 1g. It bolts right up on a 2g also you just need to either modify the water and oil lines and get a jpipe. But i agree that the EVOIII is the way to go.

Welp, I just ordered the evoIII turbo with the 34mm flapper from slowboy racing.

I should have it next week sometime. I paid a little more than I would have at Buschur ($19 more) but I felt more comfortable with SBR. Curt answered all my questions and the ones he did not know the answers to he took the time to find out. Now what qtr mile time do you guys think I should run with this turbo running 15-18psi, flapper and conquest fmic?

Once again, thanks for all the input.

I was hoping to see some discussion about the small 16g
from what I've read, it's very efficient. is the evo 16g that much better @ say 18psi?

The Evo16g and Big16G just outright flow more.

I'd say all are pretty efficient turbo. My super 16g is sort of a hybrid. Its a small 16g Turbine wheel with a big 10cm^2 housing. it sucks. Im planning to convert it to a small16g this summer by slapping on a 7cm^2 housing. I can lose quite a bit of lag by doing so. all i ever asked was to run 13's anyways :D

But yeah, for the price, an Evo16g is better. and for 70 bucks more than a s16g, you could get the evo. If i were to choose a turbo ( i didnt choose the hrc super16g, previous owner did) i would go with the evolution turbo.

No worries. Spoolup and efficiency of the small 16g is still pretty good. Very nice basic street turbo :D

Small 16g!! Just because I have one LOL but yeah EVOIII 16g is your best choice, but if you can find a S16g for $200 like I did, than get it. I didn't have plans on upgrading my turbo, I just ran into a deal that I couldn't let go.
