Wow...Golden-Boy, I would strongly suggest learning more about these vehicles before impulse purchasing one. There is alot of information on this forum, as well as all over the internet and other resources concerning the DSM and its strengths and weaknesses.

Do some research so you don't get ripped off. As well, that link you posted is a complete waste of time to read. Trust me, I just read it and feel dumber after reading it.

A DSM can be a great car, but you have to know enough about them to make a good purchase so you don't end up with a hacked up/broken car or wasting all of your money.

Good luck with your car search. The ricer handbook you posted has some valid advice, but overall is a waste of air and most of it should be common sense.
 
YA I know about Crankwalk, and how to see if there is crankwalk. And have looked over most of the basic info on DSM's. And any info on rust spots or things I should look at on a 96 Talon would be great.

In Ricer A's defense, I can see someone new to the scene doing that and not actually being a moron.
 
Heh...except that your miles are much harder on the car than stock hp miles.

Let's see...if you trailer your GSX to the track, 21k miles works out to around 3500 1/4 mile passes per year (1/4 mile up, 1/4 mile back to staging) and 42000 1/4 mile passes total. :) How many clutches would that work out to be?

Ha, yeah well I'm not sure about making over 3000 + passes, but some of that was in there somewhere. :) Also, beyond not driving very much, being a true DSM'er means your car has more mileage in the garage/backyard/driveway, than on the street.

I sure hope that guide doesn't get out around where i live. I can see it now every honda/cavalier with a fart can quoting articles on it trying to justify buying windsheild wiper fluid lights and putting 4" tips on stock exhausts saying there building a car for looks not speed. We already have enough rice garbage around here :ohdamn::toobad:
 
If a single person ever bought that guide, then it was all worth it to the author. Clearly he knew nothing about any of the cars and just did a quick internet summary and bam, $97 e-book. I am having a total mind blow here. This book is ridiculous.
 
Heh...I just ran across a "fuel cut dispenser" at some site. It was a Turbosmart bleeder-style MBC. I guess not having a boost controller hooked up to the WGA would lead to fuel cut, so technically, it could dispense with fuel cut in that situation.
