after problems involving a loss of boost, unusually low idle (sometimes bogs to under 400rpm but never stalled) and this electrical problem where everytime i turned the battery on or tried to start the car it would blow out my "ENGINE" 20 amp fuse under the hood... i took it to my mechanic because i figured it was way beyond something i could see personally.

So far all that he has seen and/or said is that it could be a major ground wire not grounding out... also could be related to my O2 sensor and my injectors... or even that my ECU has died which would relate to all these problems at the same time...

Does something like this sound logical to anyone? Are new ECU's expensive? is the stock one repairable even?

I would look around the forums, like dsmsource.com and the classifieds here. If I were you I would get an eprom. Depending on what you are looking to do, you could go to dsmchips.com and get a eprom with a custom chip.

You can buy an ECU off of Ebay, the classifieds here, junkyard, a store like autozone or carquest. There are many places you can get an ECU from and the prices have a huge range. I have seen ECU's for as cheap as about $50 and as expensive as $300. And im sure others can tell you that they can cost more than that.

I personally would eliminate the thought of bad grounds, check em all.. Once you KNOW its not that, go on over and get a ECU at dsmtrader.com, and try it.. Personally I would check the small things first before assuming its a larger problem and then later finding out you didnt really have to go off and buy an ecu.
