If you notice in the picture it's a 95 eprom ecu. There are 5 of the black linear things that are in question. I burnt the one on the left by just starting the car. The car is a 97 with a 6 bolt swap. I was trying to install dsmlink but ran into this during warm up. So what are those black things and what do they do. For some reason it went bad and I don't know why. I don't want to install another ecu in fear of it happing again. I want to see if something caused this.

So if I have a bad isc motor then why did the other ecu (97 ecu) not have one that is burnt? Would this also have to due with the cylinder dropping (see other thread)?

Several potential reasons:
It was bad when you got the ECU and you didn't notice it.
The ISC shorted gradually and blew the 97 driver but not in a visible way like this one.
The ISC shorted but also vaporized the short when it blew the driver.

I have no idea if this has anything to do with your other thread.

Have you checked the ISC yet? You need to measure the resistance of each of the four coils.

I tried the 95 with the burnt chip and it worked fine this time?!? Should I unplug those sensors?

any update on this? Just noticed mine is starting to erupt also. IC112 in my 95 eprom looks just like that. Never had any driveability problems and I have had this ecu in the car for at least 1500 miles. My isc should be fine, its a black one and fairly new. So what is a prt number to this driver and where can I get another one. Also if it does drive the bcs and fuel solenoid then how can I make sure they wont do it again?
