Your ok, exhaust valves will be darker. What you see is just mileage on the engine.

Whats your plans for it?

The larger dark ones in the picture..Looks like 4g intake valves to me.LOL

exhaust valves are the lighter ones, they just look/feel charred. they feel like 80 grit sandpaper

it just didn't look right....maybe im just worrysome LOL

I got the car for $1,400 with 81K original miles on it, because the previous owner said it had burned valves, i'm getting the head rebuilt at SIM anyways.

I'll tell you my vote for a head rebuild.Even tho it wasnt asked..

1400 dollars or pesos? 81k, ehh not too shabby.Mise well do all the maintenence while youll be in there.:hellyeah: Delete some stuff you know doing it dsm style.

yeah, I spoke with him about doing it, but he's all the way in Florida, SIM is 10 minutes away from my house which is why I chose them, they've got some good reviews, and positive feedback from local members as well. and haha 1400 dollars, with the price i'm seeing these cars going for, it seems like I got a good deal. brand new tires and new clutch put on in Feb that saw less than 5,000 miles as well.

I got hundreds of receipts from replaced parts(maintnance) for the car too. pretty much everything has been replaced in the last <3 years as far as suspension.

yeah, after i found the 650cc injectors i wanted to check the ECU out...it's eprom. only had 2 bolts holding it in, only the drivers side.

and then one of the screws on the ECU:

LOL I dunno what the last owner of this car did, or why the screw looks like that...i'm wondering why the ECU was taken out/opened....i didn't see any evidence of de-soldering, where he would've removed dsmlink

it looks like a stock eprom to me

Like the post way above mentioned, the head is completely normal. I am a machinist and rebuild heads everyday, that is just a bunch of carbon build up. Most likely that was the first time the car had its head pulled. Mine looked like that when I pulled it at 134k. Nothing to worry about, but a rebuild doesn't hurt especially with the head already off. Shouldn't cost no more than $200 if the valves are good. If any valves need replaced is when it gets pricey. Honestly it might be cheaper near you because the prices at the machine shop I work at is a little more than others I have seen. The $200 would include cleaning, +$15 to disassemble, hot tank, bead blasting the head, hot tank again, bead blast valves, grind all valves, grind all valve tips, soak in solvent, grind seats, seat the valves, check guides, resurface mill the head, install seals, install valves and reassemble. Pressure check would be extra $80 if asked. Just trying to show you what's included and some pricing. Hope everything works out for you.

80$ to pressure test a head?? Damn! I wish I could charge Cali prices in here in Florida!
It is $40-$50 to pressure test a head here.
The Valve job is about the same, but the $200 would include the tear down.

Chris... the head looks normal, the build up on the valves, I would guess is from the larger injectors and no tune, and/or wide valve seats cooling the valve, or just cheap gas.

Alright, that's good to know....I run various different suppliers of gas -- but all 93 octane. who knows what the previous owner ran, however. I'm just wondering why the previous owner sold it so cheap, under the impression that it had a burned valve. He was the type to always take his cars to shops for work, and a dealership for parts, according to the receipts I got with it(with the exception of the cheap Sunpro boost gauge it had, the 1G BOV and the injectors)....so i'm curious what would lead him to believe the valve was burned?
