was going about 150 and hear crunch/grind noise from back of car and strong unfamiliar smell. now i have signifigant loss of power and feels like clutch is slipping but not quite and the back wheels lock up randomly. the clutch is new and i am pretty easy on them i never ride them and i wasnt shifting. Car runs and shifts fine and drives like normal exept no power and back wheels lock up randomly and there is louder than normal gear whine like the the drive shaft is spinnign faster than im going. i have Perfect Compression and car sounds and runs fine besides the no power and the back wheels locking. i removed the diff and it feels crunchy and rough to turn by hand . but even with the back wheels gone shouldnt it just feel like front wheel drive untill the x-case goes bad? I just go a diff and about to install it tomorow and i am just still worried. please just tell me its probly the diff i have a lsd 3 bolt

Sorry for the length
thanks,

Sounds like the diff. or ring and pinion in the diff maybe?.. Did you take the t-case off and look at it?

I hope its ok i spent forever Just Finding the correct rear diff LOL. But is there any way to test the x-case with the diff off? i guess i should stop worrieng and just wait till tomorow to get it in and try it i just got to go to bed and stop thinking about it... haha but no for real the diff can feel like a slipping clutch though i hope thats all it is i been walking forever haha "fingers crossed"
