i bought the act 2100 series clutch and i took the cylinder cover box off that the air filter sits in off and removed the paper and bottom small honeycomb out of the maf.. what all else could i do to my 1992 gsx to make it push more boost and have more power.. oh and also its cat less with a thermal muffler on it do to the cat clogging please if u could help me out i would really appreciate it

two simple things to do are. clean out your throttle body with any cleaning fluid make sure no fluid goes into your intake mannifold. another one is to take off your passenger wheel and the wheel well, get to the intercooler. they are known to corode, If it is coroding take the intercooler off and patch it up with jb weld before its too bad. while you have the intercooler off there is a plastic piece behind it on the bumper side you can cut out and replace with a grill, or not cover it at all(your choice). also clean out your intercooler while its off you can use gasoline to do this. The intercooler can develop a oil collection inside of it restricting its performance. Those are two things i know of that you can do. I hope this helped you out. another thing is make sure you don't have any boost leaks or exhaust leaks in your car.
I hope i helped

thanks i will do that in the morning.. please any other options that i can do let me no ppl... thanks alot

Do you have a way to compensate for removing the lower honeycomb? Without an AFC, chip, or DSMLink it is really going to lean out your idle, much more than the fueltrims can compensate for. You should really avoid it unless you are just hitting fuelcut, and even then its only going to extend fuelcut anoth 0.5 to 1.0 psi. Its best to just wait and replace the MAS with a much better 2G or 3G MAS, and a way to compensate for it, IMHO. Whatever you do, do NOT further hack the MAS. That is one of those REALLY OLD "free mods", which filled a need at the time, but is not recommended now that there are much better alternatives.
If you don't have a manual boost controller, removing the restricter in the BCS solenoid is one of the best free mods.
Even removing the stock aircan is a questionable free mod, depending where you live. I did it to one of my GVR-4's, but then you are inhaling 100*+ air all the time, which makes it easier to have knock issues because of high intake temperatures. Its really best to do it along with some kind of airbox to keep the underhood air away from the air filter, and only allow cooler outside air into the intake. Now , THAT'S a good free mod, removing the restriction AND lowering the intake temperatures.

Too bad you couldn't search the internet for this stuff. I guess your probably just the first person to ever try and mod a DSM, so this ground breaking info is non-existent.

Here you go, nice and spoon fed. Here comes the airplane:

Bro, chill a little bit man, no need to get worked up. Its just that here on the tuner forums we always encourage new members to read the upgrade paths for theyr'e generation. So kick back, relax check out the upgrade path and enjoy the forums. But just as an FYI the mods here are pretty tough on profanity for future refference, not sure what they allow in the honda forums but either way welcome to dsmtuners.

welcome to the site. I am not new to the dsm scene and I have read the upgrade paths myself and there is a lot of info there that you really need to read. There was a few things that I would have never thought of, some times the small things get over looked. Like everyone else is telling you get the regular maintance stuff done first then start with the stage 0 and stage 1 paths here on the site.

Good luck and keep us informed of how its going!!

Ok now thats the kind of stuff you should be asking about here on dsmtuners. There is a ton of information, people just get tired of answering the same questions day after day.

As far as your problem: No lights, radio, seatbelts, etc = Classic blown ALT fuse. Its the black 80 amp in the passenger side fuse box under the hood. Its the one in the corner held in with two 10mm bolts.

The most common way to blow this sucker is changing your alternator without disconnecting the battery and causing a short by touching your wrench/ratchet to the hot wire on the alternator. I've done it before too.

You can get a new one at the auto parts store for a couple of bucks.

Hope this helps, enjoy your dsm!

Boosted92GSX: Nothing against you man. Every month or so we have a wave of new DSM owners that hear about the site, and register. But most of them don't bother to actually read the rules, they just click "I Agree". Then they introduce themselves, and ask a question that is answered in the FAQs, and a search would have answered easily. The front page has links for upgrade paths, Frequently Asked Questions, and so forth.

What ends up happening is a new tuner comes on, asks a obvious question, old timers, having heard this question about once a month, start making snappy remarks. New tuner think that DSM community is stuck up. Stops posting because they don't feel welcome.

All we ask as a community, is that you put effort into using the information on the site. After 21 years, there is Almost NO question that has not been asked. Lurk, think of random topics and just read read read.

And no, this isn't a rant at you, it's just giving light to the cause for the frustration.

Did you crush it up in some apple sauce for him, too? I think you should have.

I know they make a boostfluid applesauce! ROFL

All kidding aside, theres really not a ton of things you can do for free, other then what was already listed.

I'd say MBC would be your cheapest/best addon thus far.

Along with answering the question about the fuse, before you do any of the free mods (if you haven't already) I would concentrate on doing all repairs and maintenance (vacuum line, coolant hoses, timing belt, sensors, gaskets, boost leaks, coolant, [engine, tranny, transfer case and rear diff] oil), plugs (NGK BPR6ES) and wires and anything else that may have been missed. Welcome to the site as well although a little late.

hey guys, i replaced the alt fuse even though it didnt look bad (sometimes things dont appear to b broken that are)... heres the catch,, what happend with the lights were that every bulb actually blue out.. so what i was thinking is that wen the ampage regulator crapd the bed that it fried all the bulbs.. but i replaced the bulbs and am daily driving it. but the bogging down problem still exists. from a neutral rev my car cuts out at about 4 grand unless i floor it then cuts out sonner when i drive the car it cuts out and wont go over 3 unless i ease into the pedal but still not pushing it even close to quarter of the way down..
i have been told maybe the regulator/ volts overload fried a part of my ecu and is cutting out my fuel pump but honestly no one wants to believe ther ecu is bad and 300 dollars is alot of money wen ## not sure if thats the problem.. if u have any ideas please list them and thanks again guys for everything

I've never heard of all the bulbs blowing but at least your back on the road. Thats a big step in the right direction.

First of all, was it doing this before the alt/fuse/bulb issue? Also is this car new to you or have you had it/driven it for a while?

As far as your car cutting out and generally running like crap, its time for the maintenance that everyone has been talking about. If this problem was present before your electrical issue, Id start with a boost check. You can make your own device to check the boost or I believe Mach V sells one. If you have a large boost boost leak, it will run like CRAP because the afr the computer sees and what the car is actually getting are way off.

After you fix any and all boost leaks, i'd replace the plugs and wire with NGKs. No need to get fancy here. These cars love NGKs!

Also I'd check your fuel filter, if your car isn't getting enough gas, its going to feel just like fuel cut. Also you might need to clean your injectors.

Besides the basics there are a hundred electrical things that could cause all kinds of nasty problems and are very expensive to replace, power transistor, coil pack, ECU, MPI, etc.

Let us know the background on this car so we can help you diagnose further. Good luck!
