I got this pic from the gallery. Excuse the laptop ms paint editing. But what do you guys think of a scoop/vent like this? I might try it..

It looks good, but I dont think there will really be a performance enhancement seeing as the area is where the cam gear cover is. If the intake was there, that would be a whole different story.

Hmm, pictured it different in my head. Oh well, gj. I just want a custom vent besides the common ones on here. Somethin different yet still benefitial

There are tons of cars with a vent cut in the front of the hump, but it really doesn't accomplish much other than keeping your timing belt cover and brake master cylinder cool.

I'm guessing like grey forest's, but not so close together...

One vent the same size as his but above the air filter, and on above/near the manifold.

Corbin has already done this. Check out http://www.2gnt.com/www/corbin/hood.html

I think it looks ok, and if you can do the the air box too then great. :thumb:

It's one thing if you have a 2GNT, because the air filter lays right underneath the hump on the hood. But for most of you, the filter is on the opposite side, so the mod doesn't make too much sense.

The vent is on the wrong side. If you want to do this, put it on the rear of the hump facing the windshield.
Your engine bay already sees lots of positive pressure while driving, you want to increase ventilation by helping air exit to improve cooling in the engine bay, rather than give it another place to build positive pressure.

Its kind of like taking off the foam strip at the back of the engine compartment that seals the hood to the engine compartment.

if u could map out a under body spoiler, directing the airflow upwards toward the vent, it would release a lot of hot unwanted air. you would REALLY HAVE TO KNOW WHAT U ARE DOING, because if the air is directed in the wrong area(like myuber said) it will create more air turbulance under the hood than u would ever want.

Our intakes sit so close to the front of the car i think its hard to make a vent in the hood that will actually get more air to it as for cooling the Evo style hood or another over the manifold seems like its the only kind that removes any heat. Thats just what I think, but I'm not sure

I have seen a setup where people take out the right headlight and replace with it something that flows air (the air enters directly at the intake). Kinda weird, and not so good for night driving in my opinion, but do what you gotta do I guess.

If it is a turbo model, this vent doesn't really make much sense on the hump, unless for some reason you want air to flow over your timing belt cover.

Right, I've seen many people take their passenger headlight out. Is this legal for daytime since the right blinker is gone?

To tell you the truth, I couldn't tell you. If I were to guess, I would say yes as it does make the blinker disapear too. Maybe something can be rigged up though to which you will still have the blinker. Or just try not change lanes or turn around cop's, LOL.

Have you seen the headlights with a hole in it that goes directly into the intake and that way the rest of your lights would be there and work. You wouldn't have to take the light out at all

Thats always an option as well. I never new something like this was done before. I bet that looks hot, heh! :D You got any pic's of this?

That actually looks pretty cool. Most people would be like what the heck is this big hole doing here, LOL. I wonder if anything similiar is made for our beauties.

what I did when I had my Spyder was that ( I had the BC II kit so no fogs) I molded a plastic cone on the backside of the mesh that covered the rightside hole in the front. From that cone I drew a hose up right under the airfilter. I also made a heatshield similar to that in the pic above, that made all cold air go straight into the filter.
I messured temps at intake air and it made a huge difference actually, and as everyone knows..cold air is good air ;-)
