welded center diff users

Hello I'm in need of some feedback form you guys running welded center diff, I just installed the transmission on the car this transmission had a bad center diff so I decided to go ahead and weld this thing and give it a try (been reading and reading about welded diff ) so I went ahead and did it already knowing about the cons and pros, I installed a 4 stage xtd unsprung 6 puck clutch while I was at it and also replaced the yoke and the U joints the car ran fine before, it only grind 2nd gear on the previous transmission, NOW my problem is that when I'm coasting (sometimes) with the transmission on gear I get a nasty vibration all over the car I can no longer break with the car in gear as it vibrates very bad, but when I push clutch pedal in the vibrations go away and sometimes it does it on light acceleration IS THIS NORMAL FOR WELDED CENTER DIFF or what's going on any help is very appreciated

My welded center diffs never did that. Broken or bad u-joints did and so did not installing the rear section in without marking it. It got installed in a different spot.

well I put in a new yoke on it so I don't think position would be an issue would it?
so it is not normal for welded center diff to vibrate this bad? I'm going to check my u joints tomorrow to see if anything is out of place

Did you put all the transmission to engine bolts back in? Did you put the trans mount back on?

No, that vibration is not normal. Recheck the parts you replaced along with all the other joints. Also check the driveshaft carrier bearings.

For what it's worth, I have a welded center diff and solid carrier bearing bushings. The only time I've had bad vibrations was from busted CV joints. Otherwise the car cruises just like when it had an open center diff.

I will double check everything again so is it safe to say that when you have a welded diff you shouldn't be able to feel it while driving straight ? Another thing if a were to remove the t case and drive shaft I would be fwd? Thanks for your help guys

I had that same problem a while back in my 2g. It was just too much stress on the drivetrain for me, always binded up. Switched back to 4 spider.

Sounds like the Womp Womp sound jack from jacks transmissions talks about. My car does it, I have a light flywheel, puck clutch, welded diff, and no balance shafts.

well I checked everything today, I even did a test we put the car on ramps and had a friend put the car in fist gear and let off the clutch to get the car to vibrate a little without giving it gas, while I was looking underneath the car to see if anything would move or rattle but nothing, everything look solid, yesterday we did the same test but I did't get under the car but I could hear the knockin/ vibration coming from the transmission but today I couldn't hear it's kind of going away I drove it for a while today and is not as bad I don't know but is not as bad as when I first drove it I have to mention I have solid mounts, balance shaft removed, 6 puck unsprung clutch and now add the welded center differential I am guessing to a point is kind of expected to get some vibration it doesn't do it while I am accelerating and like I said is kind of going away it could also be that I am breaking in the 6 puck clutch any additional feedback would be appreciated

the sound seems to be coming from the transmission or clutch I don't know I am king of thinking of ditching the welded center diff is way to hard on the whole car

well the vibration seems to be going away compare to the fist time I drove it with the welded center diff is a whole lot better but still don't know if is normal it kind of makes sense since there is really nothing absorbing the vibrations but the whole car itself it doesn't do it on throttle just sometimes when I'm coasting

UPDATE : welded center diff still in one piece after several launches I love it just on do thight turns that's all

Flyin miata mod AND a welded center diff? How would that be for a weekend warrior? Im a strong guy, do zero city driving. I expect it would be pretty tough but useable. Anyone experienced w this.

It might be 'coastdown rumble' that's exaggerated by a solid hub clutch. My car does this for over ten years. I just put it in neutral when slowing down.

its already a bit resistant with a welded diff, i wouldnt want to make it worst. just saying, but the welded diff is super fun no sliding when building power just straight.

yea, thats the thing: a power steering rack basically WITH a welded center. I could only guess what it would be like haha. Preeeeeeeety tough turning in parking lots but oh so fun launching it.
I've never driven an awd OR done the mod so it'd be quite a change from a fwd for sure.
