weird timing issue

So, I went ahead and did timing on the car. got it set to 10* btdc, while that was set, I pointed the timing light to both cam gear and teeth was off about one or two, then I set it in between 0* and 5*btdc, the teeth at the cam are about dead on. I'm not sure if this is normal. I'm pretty sure I got all the timing components all lined up while rebuilding my motor.

Is base timing at 5* or 10*.

Anyone know a way to bridge the raiator fan to alternator so it stays on all the time when car starts, it's also another problem that the fan is not turning on?

At 0* Timing, this means that there is ignition at, you guessed it - 0* timing. When the cams are dead even when the timing light flashes, this is 0*. your timing marks at the cams should be off a bit in one direction or the other depending on how you adjust the timing. That timing light only fires when your CAS tells it to fire via the coil. So, at 10* on that timing cover you're using, you're advancing the ignition timing 10*, thus you're causing spark a bit sooner than at 0* timing.

Perfectly normal.
 
The cam timing marks will not line up with the light when the timing is set for 10 degrees before tdc. The timing is set at tdc, so the marks will only line up with the light at tdc.
 
Jesus! Nobody answered the guys question and you are going to help him blow his motor up. Base timing is 5* BTDC! Set it there and leave it there. The ONLY place you should be concerned about your timing marks is when cyl #1 is at TDC, and both of those timing marks line up with each other. Other than that, who cares!
