First off id like to say thank you all for the information that is on this website. I do alot of research online for previous vehicles and now that i recently purchased my first boosted dsm so far up until now I have found the anwser to every question I have had.

Except for this issue but im sure it is a wire touching and I will figure it out tomorrow hopefully. I changed the head out over this past weekend, now under high loads it feels like it is going no where(had same symptoms except for the gauge lights coming on and crazy misfire in high rpm's) and all the lights on the dash will suddenly appear untill I let off the gas or the car falls flat on its face.
My buddy suggests the regulator to the alternator is going out.
I have a p0505(IAC I believe) and p0120(TPS) codes in there now

it also has a hiccup/misfire if I give it the wrong amount of throttle in addition to it falling flat on its face with the guage lights appearing.

Just thought i'd throw this out there since I had a minute, im working on this car all the time seems like I fix one thing for something else to go wrong LOL.

History and Mods of my car,
Mostly stock other then a full 3" catless exhaust system, full front mount intercooler kit, cheapo ebay BOV and no its not leaking i have done a boost leak test with air compressor, umm.. emmissions was removed when I bought it so i left it off.. aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, high flow fuel filter and larger fuel lines. I believe it has a non turbo throttle body. and a 1G Cam Angle Sensor I know it has.

My first Turbo'd DSM and I made a poor decision about 2 months ago of buying a DSM in peices from a buddy that said "Oh ya it'll run good", but ended up needed to buy a donor AWD talon to replace the wireing thru out the car and all the interior.. oh and ofcourse the rod bearings spun and swapped that motor from the donor can but the balance shaft belt fail and jumped the timing and bent every valve, but since the other motor spun bearing i used that head witch was rebuilt and everything so I swapped that in this past weekend now I have this issue with loss of power... its timed correctly however the Cam Angle Sensor might not be position right but I do not think it would create all of these symptoms alone.

what it realy comes down to I think I need to sell a arm or a leg to buy a tuner or pay someone to tune it. I bought a nightmare, but I couldnt pass it up I have always wanted one and still do not regret getting it I love learning about these cars and driving them.

I will be taking the alternator off and checking it tomorrow to start with and replace the wires ive only changed the spark plugs with new ones. also have tried difforent coil packs with the same results.

:rocks:

Make sure both crank and cam sensor are plug in and installed
correct. There only one way they can go.
Did you do a 6 bolt swap?
Edit::: obviously fix your codes

Hey, it is a 7 bolt motor. The previous owner removed the cam and crankshaft position sensor for the 1G CAS(Cam Angle Sensor) mod, it removes those two sensors and the computer reads off of the CAS but also gives the benifit of adjusting base timing from what ive read.

We think the regulator in the alternator broke, about to have it tested but was wondering if i should look anywhere is.

thanks.

I'm all going to do tests this evening, I bet those two sensors are bad but before I left the house today I threw on my spark plug wires from my 6bolt sitting in the garage and also cleaned the battery terminals and is running much better without all the gauges on the dash lighting up... Hurray!

Except it still falls flat on its face and there's a lack of power but still pulls good... Going to wait for the check engine light to re-appear and go from there... But those sensors look like they came out of a junk

I changed the sensors that were coming up on the code reader, replaced the cam angle sensor and tightened up stuff, checked for loose wires.

Took it for a test drive and it went thrue the rpms without breaking up yet still felt a lack of power. Now it idle surges at a stop but will eventually come to an idle at 900 rpms, around 4500-5000 rpm it will start breaking then catch its breath and start pulling, to much throttle and will fall completely on its face.

Oh and all the lights on the dash appear once in high rpms..

I think there is a boost leak somewhere but my freaking air compressor recently broke so I have to wait until next pay check to drive and use my buddys, he also has a spare coil pack I can try its the only thing I have not checked

Has new wires, NGK's were special order but they had autolite 63 copper and gapped them at .28

Ill search again for the boost leak but has anyone had every dash light appear under throttle past 4000 rpm? and sometimes the lights do not appear till after I let out the throttle and change gears(manual trans).

So im assuming I should be looking for a exposed power wire maybe? and a boost leak...

out of money.. letcha know if I can figure this one out

The Regulator in the Alternator could be giving you lights on the dash, I had mine go bad but the systoms I got where flickering lights and 3 lights on the dash (battery, coolant, and one other cant think of) dim all the time. I would say try to replace the alt and see whats happens. Knock sensors can always give you a huge loss if power along with timing being off.

I replace my timing belt and got the timing marks lined up, changed my alt, and replace my knock sensor and my car is running alot better.

Good luck man.

Hey thanks for the input, aparantly the battery that came with this car is not the one for it. The positive terminal sat too close to the hood and was grounding out, I did a temporary fix and it started pulling like a mad man untill the alternator started putting out too much voltage so I got another alt.

I will try the knock sensor and timing belt next pay check but its nice to have power back :)

I have a 6bolt sitting in the garage with a new timing belt, will that work?

Edit: LOL I found out the battery was grounding out because I had the car running when I closed the hood it tried to die.. son of a **** LOL.

Ok, ah so happy it's running like a champ !!! Anyway, I have a 7 bolt block with 90k on it just missing the head and it needs to be rebuilt it spun rod bearings. So can someone direct me into a nice build thread, I would be happy to have anywhere from 300 to 500hp whatever is the most reliable I can't afford to tear stuff up all the time yet LOL and this is my first turbo so I want to learn... plus build this block while it's on the stand you never know I could blow this one in my car LOL.... thanks
