Alright so my car will run fine and I think after it rains it starts to do this. What my car does is like run on 2 cylinders for a split second then run fine, then randomly bog, and if I press the gas it does nothing, just have to wait for it to like catch and the whole car will jerk and go back to normal. When all of this happins the Tach drops like I lost all my power but power is fine (my turbo timer shows regular voltage). so I have no clue what to do. I have replaced the coil pack, ecu, power module, checked the Cas. I have noticed however that there is no ground hooked up to the alternator (previous owner). So if you have any ideas why my car will randomly studder, and put, all crazy let me knwo asap thanks

I could be wrong, but i believe the alternator is grounded through the block (and in turn the chasis.) My 95 eclipse had a similar problem, rain and everything. Check the plug wires at the coil pack (with the car running) and see if there is any electrical arching. With the car off, obviously, check the boots for any evidence of arching (little burned white dots.) Also, if the plug wires were arching back into the coil pack, it's possible that the coil pack is on its way out. Good luck.

well I dont think its the coil pack becuase I replaced it with a new one...does anybody know side effects from not having the ground hooked up on the alternator?

What I was getting at was that you should check the spark plug wires, specifically at the boots (both ends), if you haven't already.

sorry checked those too...nothing...car runs fine now becuase its dry out so now I have to figure out what the rain or how the moisture is affecting it.

The alt is grounded thru it's casing to the block which means you MUST have a cable directly from the starter bolt (so starter will also get full voltage) to battery negative.

You obviously have a wet problem around your coil or spark plug wires. When did you last replace these wires? They must be clean, flexible, not cracked or too old. Try watching the wires and coil in the dark for arcing while someone revs up the engine.

what color are the negative wires...the electrical was a mess from the last owner. This and the oil pressure sender wires are all I need to hook back up. I"ll check the arcing tonight

no its just randomly happins...you can tell when its going to happin becuase it will idle extremely low like 400rpms. I was wondering if a turbo being bad can cuase all of this, becuase I took off my exhuast manifold and there were tons of cracks in the exhaust housing and the turbo has a ton of shaft play.

I just fixed this issue on my GS. I brought it to Advance Auto Parts and had them run a diagnostic and it said it was my EGR Valve. I popped it off and cleaned it all out.

The area that was causing the problem was.

And this is the corner that was completely backed up with carbon. There was no air passing through at all.

My car would bog out at <1000 RPMs and when accelerating hard (4500-6000 RPMs). I used a wire hanger to make a hole straight through, then a pipe cleaner to clean it out after spraying it with Throttle Body Cleaner.

Hope this helped.
