wastegate stuck open?

is there any way to tell if my wastegate is stuck open by just looking at it from the outside or do i need to take off the 02 housing. i am not building any boost at all but the car runs fine just without going into boost.

You have to pull the O2 housing off

just pull off the actuator arm off and see if the wastegate flapper arm will move, if it doesn't then its stuck. If it is try a little penetrating lube and try to break it loose with a little force. I have had them stick closed a couple times.

You need to put vacuum on it and see if it closes...

Vacuum? Its always closed people. No vacuum necessary. Take off the arm and you can see if the flapper is freely moving. Wont tell you if the hole is messed up and if you look closely flapper arms like to slip out of the bushing. If the arm isn't close to the housing then the flapper isnt fully seated. Wont cause a no boost situation. Slow yes. Look for leaks first.
