Want to install a BOV

I want to put a BOV on my '93 TSI, because I like the sound. I have a stock set up right now. What would I need to buy and or modify to install a BOV.

Im deciding against the BOV with no further modifications. I can live without it. I dont want to mod it too much because I hear once you start modding, thats when the problems start. I currently realized my battery was fried, due to me being a ####ing idiot and not connecting the alternator back up after I replaced my clutch.. But i digress. Thank everyone for the advice. Im going to choose a running car over a cool sounding car.

just a suggestion im using a greddy rs Bov and its personally my favorite sounding Bov

In my opinion, Greddy is over rated. The BOV while looking nice, had major issues. I went through 3,yes 3, diaphragms due to all failing causing leaks. I mostly fixed that issue by using RTV on every contact point and all over both sides of the diaphragm.

Still had a slight leak after all of that.

I would suggest either a TiAL QR or the universal TurboSmart BOV.

One thing you might not wanna buy and ebay bov i bought 2 of them and they were trash sent them back and bought a greddy best one on the market.

Completely opinion, I guess you haven't used any other brands before.

TiAL has been the superior valve thus far, I won't ever get another Greddy product unless they step up their R&D majorly.

I completely agree. That is by far my favorite sound. I found a "like GReddy RS" BOV kit on Amazon that got great reviews. If I ever decide to modify it then I'll definatly go with it. I have a friend with a GSX with a Tial and he hates it. Noting that I don't know shit about the DSM's, I'm gradually learning more and I think I'm going to listen to more people, dispite what I want. haha.

Is there a full kit I can get to replace the stock rubber intake tubbing with all metal or would I have to take it to a shop?

My dad crashed his old Volvo and ruined the intake system. I replaced it with a short solid piece, and a cheap washable filter from the car parts store. The stock BOV, still recirculated, became very loud. Loud enough to get the thumbs up from any number of people next to it in traffic, and loud enough for him to complain about it. Upping the boost 5psi made it even louder, and totally easy to drift it around a corner.

I've not done this in a DSM, since I go speed density as soon as possible. The 1G maf may create a bad muffling of everything going on before the turbo. Regardless, you'll like the way the hard intake pipe fits, looks, gives a few extra hp, and won't rip or break giving you an enormous unmetered air leak.

OP, not sure if you've tried it but if you remove the big can covering the air filter it should allow you to here your bov better. With my bov (greddy/recirculated) I can barely here it with the air filter can on, but with it off its a lot louder. Plus you can here the turbo spool a little more.

I would hold off on a nice Dejon pipe until you are certain of what setup you are going to run. In the mean time, I would just get the $50 intake pipe off ebay. There is a parts review on that particular pipe I mentioned on the forum and it's positive reviews for the price.

Usually just doing the recirc pipe mod (removing from intake and shortening) and installing an aftermarket filter with adapter the bov will become dramatically louder.

^^I can vouch for those intake pipes. I got one for about $55 shipped I believe and while it doesn't fit as perfectly as a namebrand one might, it still does a great job in making the turbo spool a bit quicker on the butt dyno and certainly gives a sound that anyone would drop 50 bucks for
