BUT, i think the car is yours, and you should put what you think looks good. I know if i wanted them, i'd put them on there and wouldn't care what anyone else thought..

Does anybody know where I could find something like a vinyl strip (same color as the paint on car) to cover up the middle section of the tail lights or do you just paint over it? Also does anybody know if smoked tail lights are illegal and where I might find this type of tail lights? Thanks to all that can help.

to smoke the tails -- ya just use covers from GTS - most people just get the covers , and then paint the center section on the cover

Thanks, but what is exactly does GTS stand for or what is it exactly? The covers don't look exactly like smoked tail lights, but nice. How much did the covers cost? I do apreciate your help.

gts stands for GT Styling - its just a brand

What was the entire process of making the center tailight piece the color of your car. What were all the steps involved in completing this??

Ask siueclipse or GVTalon. I know that both of those guys have done it to thier cars. They look bad-ass!

Take the center off. Take it to a body shop and have them paint it the color of your car. That's what I'm soinf today.

Yeah, just take it to a respectable paint shop. Shouldn't cost much (around $50 or so..). You don't save a ton by doing it yourself.

or you could do what i did, and put reflective black vynil over it, it looks perfect and withstands any weather, only a little bit showing in the keyhole

I'me getting mine done next weak. My car got keyed all around so i figured ide have the center tail light piece done allong with the rest of the car. Total cost of paint job= $2200

...when i went to my local body shop..they gave me an estimate of $146...which is mostly labor and in my opinion is a total rip off...How hard is it to sand and prime the center piece or does it just come off?

That is a rip off.. You can remove the panel yourself, remove the ECLIPSE emblem, sand it with 600 grit sandpaper, and possibly primer it yourself, and then take it back to them. Or just take it to a different shop.

I got mine done for 60$...they sanded it , sand blasted it and painted it...came out real nice

all i did was clean mine with some heavy duty stuff and then painted it with black glossy enamel. i did very thin coats. came out perfect and only cost about $10.
