whats up gurus,....well i'm buildin my 6bolt and getting it ready for an fp3575....got the bottom end done and now i'm srating on the head....i need some opinions from all you guys...i'm going to be running 1mm os valves, but i'm not to sure which brand to go to.....crower, manley or ferrera....which of the 3 do you guys like??

as far as my springs, i'm leaning towards the fp dual spring kit, since chances are i will be running there fp3's....what have you guys experienced with these springs??

thanks for your help

when i asked people about 1mm oversized valves i got flamed. apparently they are only needed if your running 10's in a awd. so i would think they are useless unless your putting down 500-600hp.....

anything from forced performance is good

With a fp3575, he probably will be putting down that kind of hp ;)

YEah I don't think the 1mm over valves are necessary. If the valve job is done correctly (usually five angle IN and rull radius EX with a 45 degree seat) there usually won't be large gains in flow. Good valve jobs usually will allow the head to increase flow significantly at lower vavle lifts, producing a much broader power band. As far as brands... Ferrea makes some of the best valves ourt there:thumb: Supertech is another excellent valve. MOr spring if nothing else to combat valve float is one of the most important.

thanks for all the help guys,

yea, i would like to see those numbers on that setup....and with that turbo, it really isn't to hard... =o)

i'm plannin to get the head done with a 5 angle job....but i've heard very similiar responses about the 1mm os valves, about them not being as beneficial as everyone makes em seem.....and i've heard about them actually doing any sort of increase (as far as airflow) in the uper rpm range....with that being the case should i just stick with the regular sized valves instead of goin os??, would that give me a lil better response in the lower band?....

as far as the brands, i think i will be sticking with ferrera's.....it seems like there are alot of good things being said about those valves.....

Yeah 1mm oversized valves are overkill. Especially on the exhaust side. I did that on my first built head and I lost power rather than gained. Even a few guys that are in the 9's and straight drag race only DSMs run 2mm oversized for the intake and standard size for the exhaust side. Stick with the stock size and go with ferrea. They are definitely the best. I had SI valves before and they are very weak. I now have the Ferrea 6000's. I found a great deal on them for like $200 shipped for the entire set and at the same time I got the Ferrea valve seals. And those valve seals are worth the money! For springs and retainers I went with Manley. Make sure you get new lifters! FP springs are very good if you are going to run one of their crazy "X" cams or your going to a stroker motor. But if your just going to use the FP2's or HKS 272's then you don't need em.

People have gone 10's with stock valves and just cams and 3 angle valve job. I would get the exhaust side gasket matched and get some nice springs with cams and you hsould be set. Which cams is totaly up to you as each has it's own characteristics and traits.

You don't need 1mm over valves unless you are running a 2.4 block. You don't even need it for the 2.3 stroker. Most people have it, and it's mostly a waste. Go with a SMIM before you do that.

Are you going to be running the 3575 on the 2.0?? Have fun with that *shrug*

thanks for all help guys, this is were i'd like this thread to go, i want to make the decision soon, but i wanna do it the right way, i'd like to do it once, good, and thats.....so i'm pretty conviced to keep my exhaust valves at standard, but how about my intake valves....i'm still kinda wondering, how would the combination of standerd exhaust vavles and 1mm os (or even like .5 os) intake valves....lets say on the fp3's?? what do ya'll think about the combination??

yea i'm definetily goin with a SMIM....i want that airflow to be nice and smooth...i know what i'm gonna have alot of lag to get used to...but the car will be driven a matter of like 5 mins from my job to my house, and anoter 10 mins of misc driving around town.....so car will mostly be a weekend warrior....just in case i get into a lil tussle against a nice lil ls1 or maybe even an ls7ROFL ;)

Ya, I know a 2.4 with 3575, SMIM, Tubular mani, doesn't spool till mid/late 4k RPMS and a 2.3 w/ T67 is the same way.

Just be ready to downshift!

Wtf is the difference? You can bore the 4g63 to the same displacement. Otherwise there's a 3.5% increase in displacement from a 4g63 to a 4g64 at the standard bore, big deal. 2.3% going from 86mm to 87mm.

Sorry, carry on.

No one bores a 2.0 to make a 2.4

Go ahead and use 1mm over valves. They aren't the devil. It will gain you mid/top end power (which btw you can get with cams).

With a 4g64 crank obviously. What are you smoking? :)

1. A "2.3" is a 4g63 with 85mm bore x 100mm stroke (2.270L).
2. A "2.4" is a 4g64 with 86.5mm bore x 100mm stroke (2.351L).
3. A 4g63 bored 60 over is 86.5mm bore x 100mm stroke (guess what, 2.351L).

Why do you wanna use 1mm os valves in 2 but not 3  Even 1 for that matter. The only difference would be a little less valve shrouding with the bigger bore, and you can achieve that with either block. But I think you were referring to the difference in displacement from a "2.3" to a "2.4" and that just sounded ridiculous. A 3.5% increase in displacement is not gonna warrant oversize valves.

Owned.

On a side note what is the best valve to run? Ferrea has 3 different ones...is there much difference? Going for low tens high high nines on the bottle.
