i found a t25 online and the guy claims there's very very minimal in/out play and no up/down play i haven't looked at it yet but what are your guys' thoughts?

Just watch out ask him to send a video of the shaft play. I'm pretty sure you would want to stay away from in and out alittle up and downs ok but in and out is bad news bro. Just my experience I bought a used 14b which was said to be freshly rebuilt no shaft play at all. When I got it I found out it had shaft play but worst when I installed it, it wouldn't even boost. Thing was never rebuilt only had cleaned up the outside to look new. So just watch out, why go with another t25 and not upgrade?

May I ask for the price? I have one with no shaft play. With 100k plus miles on it. Just look to upgrade :D

If you look around a bit, you should be able to find a good condition 14b for around the same price. When I went from my 2nd gen to my 1st gen I couldnt believe the difference. Rebuild kits are cheap too.

From what I understand from a lot of reading posts and discussions on turbos and buying them. be very careful and patient while looking for used turbos and not knowing what to look for. There "could" be a good reason why the seller is selling the turbo and not keeping it for themselves as a back up "even" after an upgrade. Not at all saying this is always the case but I've read enough "bought a bad turbo stories" ( usually when its a shipped purchase )to want to read up as much as I can on turbos and what to look for, so that Im not that guy posting a horror story about a bad turbo purchase. You could always rebuild or save up for a new one or have someone experienced with you while purchasing.

My thoughts are don't buy a used T25- especially one that already has in/out play (which shouldn't be there to begin with). You're only asking for problems.

Bought that same kit for a customer's T28 a few months back and the holes in the thrust plate weren't even CLOSE to lining up. I don't know what they built it for, but it's not for a Mitsu T25/T28.

I have a 60,000 mile t-25, with no shaft play at all, does not smoke at all, does not leak at all, also have a 14b with unknown miles, same as t25 shape wise, minus small crack on wastegate hole but from every 14b I've seen it's normal...my backup turbo is now a 16G so both these turbos are sittin in a retirement box...I'm in Canada so you would have to pay a bit more for shipping, $75 for T-25, $120 for 14b+ shipping...
