Used BOV Question

Okay so there's a Greddy type S BOV on Craigslist for 70 bucks, I can probably get it down to 50-60. I was wondering if I should buy it or not. So far, my whole enigne is stock except a soon to have Ebay intake system.

Is there anything wrong with a craigslist/used BOV? And is 70 worth the buy for a Greddy type S bov.

Is it an e-bay knock off? The e-bay ones tend to leak alot and some are DOA. Is it set for recirculation or atmospheric? I would just go to a 1g BOV because it will be cheaper and its OEM with great quality.

anything is better than the POS stock 2g compressor bypass valve. the greddy should be fine as LONG AS YOU RECIRCULATE IT BACK TO THE INTAKE. you may need to fabricate a hose to line up with the stock dump tube.
there is nothing wrong with buying any part as long as you do the research and know exactly what to look for to know if it is a working part or if it is "the real deal" and not a fake. just remember that a 1g bov is always an option and usually is around the same price. its always good to have several options in your garage.

It's a really Greddy BOV not a knockoff, so the ad says.
And yeah I've been told a lot about the 1g is the way to go but as much as I'm into performance, I do love that woosh sound. And of course I would recirculate it, I thought that was easy with the Greddy type S's.

And I live in Alaska so the shipping is pretty ridiculous usually.

Yes you can look at the diaphram and easily tell, or it might say greddy on the side of the housing.

+2 on the 1g bov. But a genuine Greddy should say greddy on the side of the bov.

$70 is too much for that BOV. You don't know if it's genuine, you don't know if the diaphragm needs replaced or if the set screw is jacked up. Get a 1g or a NGR BOV and call it a day. I honestly wouldn't spend more than $40 on the Greddy S used.

Knock offs can also say Greddy as well but placement and styling may be different.

Well if I get the guy to sell it to me for 50 bucks would that be good? And I'll check out the Greddy on the side but for the Diaphram I'd have to be able to open it up..

I picked up an Evo8 plastic bov for $5. Itll hold ~18psi and is far better than the stock 2g, and its direct bolton (no needing adapters).

Plastic BOV's are prone to cracking and not sealing properly. STAY AWAY FROM PLASTIC BOV's. Get a 1G BOV from a member on tuners or $10 or less in a junk yard. Get the adapter to make it fit the stock 2G BOV mount. Here is where you can get the 1G to 2G adapter.

All of that for $40 or less. Thats still cheaper than the greddy BOV and everything. You will also need to replace the seals on the BOV flange for the greddy one, and you will need to buy an adapter to get it to mount on the 2G anyway. So 1G BOV is the best and cheapest way to go IMO.

Okay well, I've been told the 1g BOV is great at holding high boost levels, but right now I'm running stock boost. And is the 1g BOV even as loud as the 2g bov or is it queter? and would the Greddy be a lot louder?

Don't try to think I'm just getting it for sound, but I do want that sound.

make sure it is a lagit Greddy one, $50 IMO is not a bad price for a nice shape Greddy BOV.

The type s is nice. for 50 bucks jump on it, if it turns out to be fake all you spent was 50.
